wow, very impressive! could you tell me, how you get the curves where you want them to?
(what do you use to achieve these smooth forms? Subdivide&Smooth?)

as Sketchup geometry
Maybe for full compatibilty?
I think kwistenbiebel meant that it doesn't make sense, if someone imports a mesh and then tells everyone he has created it in SketchUp...

pav, that surely is supposed to indicate, that it is one single palm

what a nice palm tree. rather detailed for the small file size - ideal for instancing...

RE: [Plugin] CenterPointAll.rb
so basically you need a "geometric shape recognizer".
that would be a wonderful thing, by the way. imagine you have a complicated curved form consisting of loads of small lines and SketchUp simplifies it into (for example) three curves.
the plugin could have some correction-freedom settings too. for example if it recognizes two arcs in a shape which connecting bits are almost tangential, SU could correct the position of the connectin point slightly to match a perfect tangent...
that would be awesome!

RE: SketchUpBBS-Subdivide&Smooth piugins test
thanks a lot, bianhai.
I think most of us are already messing arround with Subdivide&Smooth.
but your modeling-tutorial looks really inspiring! has something of a sculptor.
I definitely have to try this sometime! -
RE: Animated logo help...
but please post ideas and suggestions here (not with the original logo of course). that is really an interesting challenge!

[Edit] whats about the new "proper animation" plugin? haven't tried it out yet. but could imagine, that could work...
or doing something with section planes, "moving" trough a shape that is crossing over from logo1 to logo2 (you know, by setting up two scenes)?
just ideas, no idea, if it works...

would love to know how you did it. -

You could even add some elevator music to go along with it.

oh yes. that would be wonderful! I love this beautyfully boring pseudo-classical elevator music

just imagine having such a "thing" as secretary in your office...

when seing this, I can imagine quite vividly how it will be, when machines (trying to simulate humans) claim for world supremacy...

I supported Federer (of course).
but at least this way Nadal shed tears of joy and not of frustration

RE: Robocops
well, I think for one reason this Segway Swat team makes sense, because they may even be able to aim and shoot while driving (would be interesting to see the effect of repercussion though
)and for a second reason: you all don't seem to know that these teams are equipped with the new segway extreme (speed up to 60 kilometers per hour and jumps up to 3 meters!)

RE: Wimbledon final
I whatched the whole match (5 hours without rain breaks!). it was the most thrilling tennis match I have ever seen in my life!

my thumbs still hurt today (Germans squeese their thumbs instead of crossing fingers - very useful when tense and in the need of releasing some energy

RE: Joint Push Pull Classic (Old version) - v2.2a - 26 Apr 17
if I do large jpp operations, SketchUp sometimes freezes (certainly, if I click somewhere else).
therefore I wait the first 30 seconds, look in the status bar how many faces are done and how many are still left. thus I can calculate a rough remaining time (which normally precisely matches the real time needed).
then I go to the SCF forum and enjoy live until suddenly (sometimes after 10 minutes or so) SketchUp draws my attention to it by becoming active again...so Joint Push Pull and SCF-forum work hand in hand

RE: [Plugin] ExtrudelineTool Update
just a thought: It would be great to implement the ExtrudelineTool completely into SketchUp by making the push/pull tool work on selected lines. so the push/pull tool works as normal, but if some lines are selected beforehand, it works on these lines like your ExtrudelineTool.
(however, I asume that ruby doesn't give you acces to the native SketchUp tools, right? therefore this idea should be in the wish list section

I think I'll retire now.

but where shall I get my inspiration then? you created a movement!
in the past jung artists tried to create "statues" and "sculptures"...the new challenge is to create "Bartels"
(is singular "a Bartel" or "a Bartels"?
)
