I had the same problem with the textures in my roman theatre of orange. I am working in a better version, I will have to ask for someone to export it to .obj when finished.

RE: Pont du Gard
Gaieus gave me a good idea for my roman theatre with the textures.
Julius, with our models one day we will be able to do our own roman city!

RE: 2 Roman Basilicas in Kerky
There are some free models of statues on the net. Someone in 3D Warehouse transformed to skp this free model:

RE: Roman Theatre in Cartagena (Spain) Work in progress
Right now the model has a lot of mistakes and must be rebuilt in some places, so it is not uploaded. For example the inma and media cavea are bigger than the ruins of the real theatre (my model has a smaller orchestra). And I have to work on some textures.I am waiting for the new museum to be opened, a lot of information will allow me to improve the model a bit more.
At this moment the skp filesize is 8.5 mb, but the kmz file size is 34,8 mb, so I can't upload it to Google Earth.
Anyway, you can see the model with the kmz file in my personal Google Earth (beta 4.3) here:

RE: Funky Building Concept ... The Vines
Kerkythea is extremely easy... in the basic use. In fact what I do is to save the skp file with the view that I want, and after that I export it to Kerkythea with the sketchup plugin.
Then I select a preset (the icon of the running man), for exteriors pathtracing high and resolution... and it's done. The icon for viewing the rendered image is the tree.
You can choose the hour of the day, too.

Try to render it with Kerkythea, must be spectacular!
Great work.

RE: 2 Roman Basilicas in Kerky
Thanks, I sent you a Private Message. I didn't want to monopolize this thread and start an offtopic.
Errr... perhaps is my limited english, but I never was angry with you... I really thank your response. I hope that you can help me in a future. I know that the complexity of modelling an ogre is exactly the same of making a model of a sculpture. I saw your work in KT Forums, and is very good
EDIT:
I am sorry because my english is limited and I am spanish, so I can't use coloquial words, and the english vocabulary more familiar to me is the one that uses more words from latin, so I speak "very learned"
If you say me what I told you that originated the misconception (in a PM) you can help me to prevent it to happen again in the future. I am sorry for my english but I like to practice it.
You can see how a serious man I am, look here:

If I can't manage to get some statues I will fill the theatre of chickens There was an inscription of a man called "gallus paetus" in the theatre, Gallus is similar to the spanish word Gallo - sometingh like "Chickenus" in English - . As you see some of the archeologists working in the theatre put a small toy of a chicken over a stone after I put that image on the forums
You can see some nice renders too.

RE: 2 Roman Basilicas in Kerky
Sooner or later Elysium will have the problem I am starting to see.... Creating roman sculptures.
I know about the program "Makehuman", but it gives no clothes or hair. Creating them may be very tedious. I am wondering if there are any tricks or resources to help making them.

Keep us informed!
Very interesting.

RE: Dental equipment?
If you try to model the equipment yourself, you will discover that is easier than you think
In fact I began using sketchup like a game.

Room with Paintings.
That's the way romans liked their paintings...

RE: Hysterical restoration
In the United States 1820 is an historical building... If you were in Spain you would shout and scream of terror with such modern buildings
I like your work, bring us photos of the building when the work is finished

RE: 2 Roman Basilicas in Kerky
It's Fantastic!
Textures of roman monuments give you headaches... they liked to paint everything.
Based on my last informations, I changed (don't worry yet, just for this photo) the colours of the roman theatre I am doing:
YES, IT SEEMS THAT THIS WAS THE SHAPE OF THE THEATRE(of course, my model still needs a lot more details, but at this moment that's what I have). Golden painting over Carrara Marble (oh my god) and red painting on some parts of the podium.
I think that the painting of the marbles was done after 1 century or so, so I still believe that originally they weren't painted.
Did you model all the sculptures, Elysium? They are very difficult...
and... are you spanish?

RE: How do I eliminate this banded effect in a tileable texture?
I used only Gimp, as I like to use opensource/ free software. This is a better version, using the dodge tool. There are some glitches yet, but I am happy with this at the moment.

Enjuto Mojamuto (subtitled in english)
I am wondering if you can understand this Monthy Python style videos of "Enjuto Mojamuto" (from the spanish TV), in spanish with english subtitles. They are so absurd that I enjoy a lot when I see it on youtube. But only two are subtitled in english...
(Enjuto Mojamuto is all day in front of his computer)

RE: How do I eliminate this banded effect in a tileable texture?
I have made a first attempt. In fact I was looking for a way of doing it with a script or something similar, but I see I have to do it manually. Anyway thanks Alan.
I have to go out for three days, so I won't be able to respond you untill thursday. If you have another way to fix the problem, let me know

How do I eliminate this banded effect in a tileable texture?
I would like to do it using free software, like gimp (if possible). I have searched in Google for a solution, but I had no luck.
This is the effect:
I am not good with gimp or similar software, but I have to make a good stone texture and I know that is very important for the finished model.
Thanks.
