I have a script which I used in V6, and since loading V7 it has stopped working properly, and I was trying to run it in the console to see if I could find out where it was breaking.

Thanks for your responses. I take the point about the axis and thought about that. It is a 'workable' alternative but there are a couple of issues: 1 - where components are downloaded the axis may not be in the correct place to work with ease. 2 - I am thinking about room design, and when placing components such as cabinets, it would be desirable to be able to place a new cabinet on the left or the right of a previouc one, but a component can only have one axis so could not be easily 'snapped' on either side. As far as the 'Snapping' tool is concerned, I'm not going mad after all - I found it. It's the 'Place Adjacent' item here http://wiki.renderplus.com/index.php?title=RpTools#Place_Adjacent. Shame it's not available on it's own

Thanks Jim. I was not aware of that option (the shift key on the erase tool) - most of my Sketchup experience so far has been for personal stuff and I have so far gotten by with the basics and various tutorials. It's only recently with the rlease of V7 and the introduction of Dynamic Components that I have taken a more detailed interest in SU for more serious projects. I see I still have a lot to learn. Thanks again.

Thanks Gaieus. I never noticed the 'options' on the import dialogue box. I was assuming it would import using the default template settings. I can send the drawings off now with with no worries. Thanks again.

**%(#0000BF)[when the value is "piece" in "units",1 is loaded in "numerical value" automaticly; when "m" in the item of "unit" is picked, the length of the maximum edge in "group" will be loaded and fill in the item of "unmerical value"; when "m2" in the item of "unit" is picked, the area of the maximum facet in "group" will be loaded and fill in the item of "unmerical value"; when the value is "m3" in "units",the volume of "group" is loaded in "numerical value" automaticly; after all the required input above completed,a confirm code including 8 numbers is filled in "set up password","OK" and then all the info.above wasn't modifiable ; when the same number as "set up pw" was inputed into "amend pw","OK" and then above info. was modifiable again.]**

For those interested in Windows-style dialog boxes (i.e. not Web dialogs), I had written a library Libtraductor.rbthat supports also language translation in dialog boxes and ease the checking of parameters (min, max, string patterns, ...). It also preserves defaults and previous values. I use it in Bezierspline and in JointPushPull (and actually in other unpublished scripts). Attached is the script, as well as a tutorial for programmers in English. Here is a snippet of the interface dlg = Traductor;;DialogBox.new title #Declaring fields, either string, numeric or unit-based numeric, or enumeration list; dlg.field_string symbol, label, default, validation_pattern dlg.field_numeric symbol, label, default, value_min, value_max dlg.field_enum symbol, label, default, enum_hash #Showing the dialog box; Hash_results = dlg.show hash_initial_values to drop in Skecthup Plugins folder Tutorial for Ruby script programmers
