Ah, eureka! Thanks Tig, it's working now. Some really cool effects there for the choosing.

RE: Material direction
Jeff and Gaieus,
Yes, that's what I did at first and just got the component context box.. Tried it again and all it wants to do is the same as if I used the selection tool and right click. Is there something wrong with my version, or maybe a setting somewhere is off ? -
RE: Resizing bounding box
As is typical, I studied up on what was said and had no luck. I can right click and chose change axis and move it up to the component, but the old axis is still there with the new axis as is the out of bounds bounding box.I reviewed everything but I'm not getting it. Also the term hidden geometry was used. I hear that all the time but I'm not sure what it means. I usually scale the component using the Fredoscale plugin, but not always.

RE: Material direction
I was wondering how to do this exact thing as well. I'm having trouble following this somewhat. When you say right click the material I asume you meant in the material dialog box. When I right click, all I get is
delete
save as
export texture image
edit texture imageI can go to edit and there I can rotate 90, close it out and then have the rotated material at the top of the box. It works but it's not what I expected to see. I don't get anything about texture/position. What am I missing? I'm using7.1 pro.

RE: Weird Measurement Anomoly
Thanks Jeff, that looks good. I know I've had a brain fart when I look at my spelling.
A-N-O-M-A-L-Y. There , I knew I could do it

RE: Weird Measurement Anomoly
Dang, you're right. I always work to 1/64, so I didn't even check to see that somehow the units got changed. My bad

RE: Weird Measurement Anomoly
I knew it had to be me, or is it. Here's the frame in question. Somehow it don't work out right, I think.
Notice the one opening at 9 9/16" when measured directly, then add up the measuremnts taken from the top down, or visa versa.I work to 1/64" BTW.

Weird Measurement Anomoly
I was working on a cabinet face frame and had a weird thing come up.I set my rails to guide lines a set distance apart ( 9 1/2") . When I measure from the top or bottom of the frame everything is as it should be.All the rails and spaces between equal the ht of the frame exactly. However, when I measure between the two spaces that should equal 9 1/2" one of them measures 9 9/16".I imediatly suspected one of the rails or other components to be off. I spent some time double checking and it's all good. I triple checked my math, all good. I only notised it when I put a verticle divider between and notised one to be 1/16" short.I fixed it by lengthening it but now my cutlist will be off on that one component. I can adjust for that, but now I have less faith in the program. Is this a known fault and if so how common is it?

RE: Resizing bounding box
Thanks for the tips. I actually exploded the component and re-made it as a component which seems to have worked.

Resizing bounding box
I know this must have been asked before, but I had no luck with the search engine. How do you resize a bounding box if you've resized a component. I'm using cutlist and it throws it completly off as it measures the box, not the componenet.

RE: Intersect Cleanup Plugin ?
Here's the file after I cleaned it up. After creating the frame parts with bead I needed to intersect to create the mitres. What I did was hide the component parts, then bounded all the squiggly intersect lines and right clicked and erase.Just looking for an easier way I guess.Beaded Face Frame.skp

Intersect Cleanup Plugin ?
Does anyone know of a plugin that deletes the lines that intersect creates after one no longer needs them ?

RE: Importing cad files
I re-imported it in inches and it worked. I figured since it was a german manufacturer plus the spec sheet I had was metric that the cad drawing would be as well. My bad.
-
Importing cad files
I've imported a cad file sent to me that I need to get dimension info off of. I imported it in the unit sizing it was drawn in (metric) and also the same units in SU. When I go to measure known values I realize that it's way to small in scale. I tried using the scale tool which brings object up to proper scale, but it's illegible on account of thousands of crossed lines the scale tool brought along with the model. What am I doing wrong ?

RE: Sketchup Guide Missing Pages
Yes, that's the first thing I did, with the same outcome. It's why I posted it, was wondering if I was the only one or not. Maybe I had two bad downloads, I'll give it a third try.

Sketchup Guide Missing Pages
I downloaded the Google Users Guide for both Sketchup and Layout in pdf. When I browse thru it about a third of the pages says can't be rendered. I reloaded it thinking I had a glitch, but the same thing happens. Is there a manual I can load to figure out have to fix the guide
so I can learn how to fix my other problems ?

RE: Exporting for full scale printing
Thanks Andri, I'll give it a go. BTW, do you know of a good tutorial for LO that would be good for managing woodworking plans ?
-
RE: Exporting for full scale printing
Thanks for the tutorial. I broke down this morning and took the pro plunge. Now if I could only figure out what to do next! It seems from my first try that I'm limited to 100" in a pdf export. Hope I'm wrong.
