Yup it plays........impressive 22min!!!!!!! Im sold on it Pete. I dug up Thea yesterday and started doing some tuts. Just got sick of the limitations of using a renderer within SU.
are we on the same boat.. hating poly limitation here and doing workarounds. whilst im asking vray to do a stand alone, so that it wont be dependent with su shortcomings. -

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1129899/Produce.mov (should play online, let me know if it does not)well the lighting set up is simple.. so any engine can do this fast. for me keyshot/hypermove can render this even faster using just an hdri.

RE: Vray VS Thea render plants render
for me. if you want to look at this in a very very professional way. see the multi-scatter with Max and Vray.
as far as what you have now. i think this workflow for ground grasses is great... http://www.sketchupvrayresources.blogspot.com/2012/04/mtm-series-2012-40-iwasa-house-by.html download also the sample grass in the same post.

RE: Vray VS Thea render plants render
some of my friends what they do is they render first the background trees. then the foreground trees, then the house without trees, and if have trees minimal. all the save images in png. then they composed in photoshop. it means they render by stage..

RE: .exr conversion
that is my tutorial.. try this work around...
- render using small output, once ir and lc were calculated. saved these calculations. then load them again.
- once loaded change the output. this time render it in chunks using region render.

RE: New to SU, new to Vray for Sketchup
seems to me the material was not applied. you can oly see the material in the SU material editor if you applied the material to the face. loading the vismat to the vray material editor is not enough.. you need to apply it.

RE: How to have more than one transparency map?
@nick2196 said:
Hello all. I am trying to create a material that has more than one transparency. I am working on a painted material that would have a crackled finish, along with dings and dents, and wear on the corners.
Currently I have one diffuse layer, which holds the color information of the material, as well as "dirt".
I have another diffuse layer which has a "dings and dents" texture, and is applied as a transparency. This works perfectly.
The next step in this material is the crackled finish. I have created another diffuse layer, and imported the bitmap using the same method as the "dings and dents" layer. However, I cannot get the crackle to show up on the material.
Any ideas?
hard to control since it will only follow the diffuse layer on the very top. you can actualy wotk thios time using the UV remember that vray unit is in inches. thom thom has tutorial on displacment and unit.. and have an explanation on it check that one out.

Hi,
I took the model of daredevil and supplemented some elements. It may look not quite like the original but it can still become.
