I like it too. The AO is very subtle, how did you do that?

It would be easier if you posted a screenshot or picture of what you are trying to achieve. Are you looking to intersect round sections?

Thanks, I have had a look at the components but they do not have what I would consider small parts.
      It's still a bit of a mystery.

    • Fix model problem caused by cutting component?

      Hi All

I get occasional reports of a problem when saving a model and always allow SU to 'fix' them. Sometimes however it cannot be fixed and the problem recurs upon each save. I usually then resort to ThomThom's 'Cleanup' plugin, which almost always works. When things go particularly wrong I notice that the ceiling in my model( I am designing kitchens) gets erased as part of the cleanup. The ceiling is made of a simple rectangular solid into which are placed recessed light components( my own) which glue to horizontal and cut themselves in. I group the ceiling first, then in edit mode place the lights.
Is it possible that this kind of intersecting geometry is causing a problem?
As SU does not highlight the offending geometry in a way which is recognisable to the user this becomes difficult to rectify.

      Thanks

      Nick

I think I would add Advanced intermediate. I too downgraded myself after a while.

Fabulous. All natural light. Any post pro? Render times? You won't find a builder that can put down a driveway as perfect as that though.

    • Label alignment

Is there a reason why there is an extra space after the text if is to the left of a leader arrow as opposed to the right? This is too big a gap and its a pain having to keep editing labels.

Thanks. Yes that works now. I notice several of the parts overlap and do not automatically trim, such as the glass and horizontal profiles. Is that to make it quicker?

Ok thanks. Will have to work around it. I do have a bright green reverse face which is a tip I picked from you Dave from an old post. ๐Ÿ‘

    • RE: Find problem geometry after validity check?

Yes Dave, it's a kitchen design with lots of components and groups. They are nearly all mine and are ok, I have not had problems with them before. I haven't looked at Solid Inspector so I will do so next. I assume from your reply thats its not possible for SU to 'tag' the offending items?
      Thanks for the quick reply.

    • Find problem geometry after validity check?

      Hi All
Is there a way to locate any items in a model causing problems thrown up in a validity check? The check lists the geometry by numbered edges etc under the 'show details' box, but only does this after supposedly fixing the problems. I have gone to save a file and the validity check warning came up advising of problems, I let SU fix it and then saved it . However on re opening the file and then saving again, the same warning comes up with the same geometry to fix. This goes on ad nauseum and I still don't know how to lcate the offending geometry. I did manage to sort it using trial and error but is there a better way?

      Thanks

    • RE: Importing Colors

I have never bought any, I find it just as easy to make them. Once they are made you can save it as a Sketchup texture and use it again. However a quick Google search came up with this site among others http://www.sketchuptexture.com/

    • RE: House model

That last one is really good, had to look twice. Ironic that we are using a virtual model to emulate a scale model of the real thing.

    • RE: Importing Colors

Yes you can make your own materials easily. Open the material editor and click on the box with the plus sign on it to create a new material.

Give it a name then check on the 'use texture image' box-this will prompt you to choose an image to use. Take care not to use too high a resolution image or it will slow the software down.

    • RE: Line overlay process?

Also make sure you create a scene in sketchup for the view you want, this will ensure your exported images will line up when overlaid. It is a good idea to export the linework image at twice the size and then reduce it by half in your image editor. This helps to smooth out the jaggy lines you get from a raw SU export.
