RE: Help needed installing Soap Bubble SU 8 OSX
When the script was first written for SU ver 6 it installed in tools folder but with SU ver 8 you need to place in
Macintosh HD/Library/ApplicationSupport/Google Sketchup 8/Sketchup/Plugins folder on Mac -

RE: Mac setup/configuration advice
I tried a trial ver. of V-Ray on Mac Pro 1st gen. with NVida 8800GT and 10 gigs of ram with no problems but it was not a very high poly model to begin with I use Kerkythea all the time with no problems. I wonder why SU crashes on your MacBook?

RE: I am newbie, it is my first house model

RE: 'turned' trees - re: memory
You could still use 3d trees and either hide them on a separate layer so as you are working in your model the PC doesn't have to constantly redraw them and unhide the when you need to or try plugin Ghostcomp a really good plugin for lots of high poly components.

RE: 'turned' trees - re: memory
Make a simple 2d tree or download from warehouse and make it a face me component very low poly, move, copy that same instance will yield smaller file size.

RE: Tool Bar on MAC
That was one drawback to using SU on Mac took a while to get use to

RE: Sketchup 8 v2 very very slow on iMac lion
I've been using SU on Lion for a while now and have no problems. My suggestion would be to open SU (a new file) and do some modeling to determine if it's SU or the file.
@Jeff I got the NVIDA 8800GT it works great thanks for your recommendation, the old card is fine but didn't want things to go bad.
@geewi00 that's a pretty sweet machine don't give up on it yet.

RE: Hi from italy---problems with skp on mac
I was a little disappointed to find that I had no control panel for graphics card on Mac when I started using it I did on XP and I think the enhancements actually came from NVIDA drivers so prevalent for Windows but not so for Mac I've searched my computer, NVIDA website still came up empty handed only way to update driver is if Apple updates.

RE: Hi from italy---problems with skp on mac
There are no settings for the graphics cards inside the OSX least there aren't on mine with NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB. So I would suggest opening up SU new file go to Preferences and on OpenGL make sure Hardware Acceleration is checked and check Fast Feedback, could be when you installed SU on your new MAC they weren't on by default. just a thought hope it helps.

RE: RICHARD'S ULTRA LOW POLY CARS - UPDATED
Thanks Richard you the man.

RE: SU is great, but cannot handle complex models with trees etc
Using layers to hide or show components and groups works really well. Also ghost comp plugin http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=21469
makes thnigs like tress or other high poly components low poly for the time and switch back to high poly with one click. -
RE: [Tutorial] Tufted Ottoman
Been having a HELL of a time with that crease tool till I saw this.
Thanks Eric
So what does creasing edges or quads do for it I don't see much difference when doing it that way.
