btw, I can't make a sandbox from scratch, i only can do from contour,where's can i learn how to make it from scratch? is it drag and release or poin to poin click?

edit:bit problem when trying to install libfredo on SU8 for curviloft it say:
"Error Loading File LibFredo6.rb
no such file to load -- LibTraductor.rb"
but, i have LibTraductor.rb in my SU7 plugins folderm should i copy it? will it fit best?

Hi, thank to SketchUcation here for helping newbies like me to improve
sketchUp skill..

I use free plugin only coz its easy to get it here,
and the problem is to create a flag with material apply to it.

I have 20x20cm jpeg material for the flag: (eq.firefox logo)

and 2 way of creating the flag:

creating a 20x20cm(box) plane and pull it,
1.by arc line > push > and delete some lines
2.by free hand tool > copy it 3 > scale a little > and using curviloft plugin

using curviloft seems more realistic than using the 1st way or using sandbox tools.

and I apply the firefox material:

by creating a 20x20cm plane,file>import, use as texture and apply to the plane.
and using paint bucket, pick the material and apply to both of the flag,

and the material Mapping is not correct

and as told before, I try to use UV Projection plugin to fix the map,
and this is the setting:

but the material wont fix right, its to left,
*how to move the texture to the right to fix the 20x20cm flag altough i create the texture in 20x20cm too..?

How to fix the texture position?
and what plugin are you using? coz I cant right click > texture > position on a contour plane..

the first contours model is originaly imported from AutoCAD drawing, then I weld it all(2nd model),and set the Z coordinate(height) manually
some of the line I make from "spl" command in AutoCAD and the other line I have it from the other file (i don't know is it spl too or just line command)

it seems good attached each other in 4th model, but it is missed in the 5th model

i want to ask you about sandbox tools, but i don't know if its value enough to make a new thread so i just post it here... (sry, bad english...)

so this is the problem,

I import some contour lines from AutoCAD 2011, and set the height in sketch up and use sandbox from contours...line 2,3,etc is ok but the 1st and 2nd line miss a knit...the line seems not to attach each other, is it a bug or i was wrong to make the line?

i'm in difficult using "create loft junctions between surfaces based on Splines Curves",
I forget the plugin name but I create a ramp skeleton using curvi shear and try to skin it but it seems difficult

left: curvi shear skeleton
right: after press the plugin button :"create loft junctions between surfaces based on Splines Curves", it is unpredictable forms, and I try it manualy line per line but i dont get it how to use the skin plugin, orange,yellow,purple,etc make me confuse....

can somebody explain how to use this skining plugin?

I want to ask the basic pattern of displacement map,
is it extrude the black colour and nothing in white?

what about if i use a coloured jpg image as displace maps
eq, using the same jpeg image in diffuse and displacement maps
is it displaced?

i already try bump maps , make more realistic in texturing, but not more realistic if i render the corner of a room with applied 30x30 tiles on it (look realistic on the texture but not at the edge/ corner at the tile)

maybe, can u share step by step the setting of doing this rendering corner of a room with 30x30 tile? thx

thanks mitcorb! almost forget the weld plugins (make a polyline) and skinning with curviloft!

(note: if you pull the edge line to make the ramp elevation(will pull/stretch all connecting lines), it wont works well, you will make a contour in the ramp, but using curvishear it result a great ramps! )

it's a simple problem, just want to make a ramp, but a "J" shaped ramp,
I tried curvishear plugin but it seems not much help.

this is the priview:

i explode it and clean all the lines inside the ramp and push a little, and then select one edge line and move it in Z direction (it works if only straight ramp, not j shaped)

could somebody help me?

hello, this is my third question and it looks like no needed to make anew thread,
so I post the simple question here, hope you guys can help me to solve the problem

This is it:

above is the Top view, I rotate it to match it with the coordinate in Google Earth (i dont know exactly the degree I just rotate it),
if I go to Right view, then the Picture Plan is on A, how to make it to see in B?
Should I do it manually? create a line in origin X direction (i've change the position of the Axes)and measure the degree and then rotate it?
2nd: where is the north?

nevermind, another suggest me to make a better organic shape using another software like 3Ds Max etc, but SU is more userfriendly for me,

this is another problem occur when I create a bottle using follow me tool,

after I use follow me, some parts are missing, I don't know why,
but it won't happenned in creating bowl

I have tried to use "from scratch" tool, but I can't make the first step,
can you give the tutorial for the first step? is it left click?
