    • RE: Texture export issue

Sorry guys I don't think I explained myself very well.

I have a wood texture that I am using for the side of a house. The original colour of this texture is whitish. The colour of the house is green. I used the eyedropper tool in sketchup materials/edit to grab a colour overlay that converted the whitish texture colour to green. This looks great. The problem only occurs when it comes to exporting whereby the Collado file of the texture does not realise that its supposed to look green. I tried to get around this by using the "make unique texture" but as soon as I do I end up with an area in the original texture colour.

I am pretty good on photoshop but if I try and colourise the original texture I loose too much of the detail and it looks naff.

      Any cunning ideas?

    • Texture export issue

      Hi everyone.

Quick question. I have a model where I have used the "match colour on screen" option on a material. If I use the "Make Unique Texture" option it reverts back to its original colour. I have tried saving the texture as new, but it basically makes a copy only without grabbing the new colour. It would not normally be a problem, but as I am trying to export the model it is reverting to original material only. Any ideas how I can get round this without using photoshop.

      Many thanks

      Hi Usen

Very nice minimal room. I especially like the floor material. Question though, why did you use green light?

Hi Adam. Was going to ask these questions via pm but figured they might be of interest to others.

      1. Sliders were not on the link so could not change time of day
      2. Does your lightup logo always have to be on the player. For example if I were to use it and have it on my site or offer to embed on clients site would want my logo or theirs (sorry my bad)

Apart from that I am loving a. the help you have shown and just as importantly b. the quality of the plugin

      Many thanks

    • RE: The Sun as a demo

      Hi Adam

Sliders would be good. The reason it would not be practical rendering scenes or creating scenes is because at 365 days of the year and for arguments sake 12 hours sunlight a day I would have to create 4380 seperate scenes. If I could not have the model rotating I would want at least 4 different angles and that would then give me 17520 scenes lol. That would really fly in the face of my philosphy in life of doing the least ammount of work possible for the greatest financial gains 🀣 .

If your company could sort something like this out so that any model can be placed within a viewer then using sliders etc to check sun positions I guarantee you will get a lot of business from Architects and builders. I know this because I keep getting asked if I can do it and currently I cannot 😞

      Thanks Charly

Had a look at the website and am slightly confused by what this software actually does. I shall try the trial and see what happens.

    • RE: The Sun as a demo

      Hi Adam

Thanks for the idea. Took a look at your site and it looks very good. However not quite what I had in mind because I want a client to be able to view their building in a viewer and with the use of sliders or buttons or typing in information (or all three lol) be able to see the shadows. I deally they could move around the building like it was in Gogle Earth.

In order to do it your way it would be some kind of movie presentation which would not be very practical for 365 days of the year 24 hours a day. More importantly it would take me way too long.

    • Is this a myth?

There is a piece of software out in the world that can calibrate then create basic town/city models in 3D based on geo images. I want to model my whole town which has about 10000 buildings really fast.

I read about a program called ESRI city builder. Can it do this?

      Cheers

    • The Sun as a demo

Hi Guys. OK stuck again and not helped by the fact that I am not entirely sure what my problem is actually called so here we go. I have trawled the web and come up with nothing, but I know the following can be done.

I want to be able to illustrate to a client how the sun reacts to their buiding at any time of day (minimum hourly) any day of the year, much like the shadow/sun option in sketchup.

I take a 3D model geo located then in flash or any other program (free please) my client can click or move a slider and see what the shadows and sun does.

I want to be able to load this up onto my website. It has to be customisable so I can try and make it look purdy

      Many Many Thanks in advance

    • RE: Video Card Upgrade

      Hey Ecuadorian

Rendered my first Lumion movie yesterday and the average frame render time was 2.9 seconds at 720p and 5.3 seconds at full HD. I have not overclocked the graphics card, processor or ram so am sure I could pull those times down a little bit more.

    • RE: Matchphoto Swap

You can have as many photomatched pictures as you like. Just keep adding them as image imports (photomatched). If you wanted you could mess about with the pictures in photoshop or similar program to give the illusion of darkness etc etc save as new files and insert them as photomatched

    • RE: Best and fastest laptop to run sketchup

Well from experience I can tell you not to buy a Packard Bell laptop, never under any circumstances, don't even think about it.

As for components a mid to mid high range laptop should have at least an i5 8 gig ram and a decent graphics card for less than $1000

I bought a Toshiba one 6 months ago with that spec and its fine with Sketchup.

    • RE: Matchphoto Swap

Probably not understanding exactly what you mean, but surely all you do is move the view of the model to line up with the new image then get your axis in the right place and carry on where you left off as there is no limit to how many matched photos you use.
