I tried your method, it works nicely. The only thing is that I don't know how to run this maxscript in 3dsMax, to show me all the textures in viewport. Could you give me a hint? And you probably know of 3dsMax to SketchUp exporter by SimLab. I tried using that directly in 3dsMax, to skip obj step, but it doesn't export materials for some reason. Did you ever try that? And did it work for you?

RE: Materials to groups script
Having two different materials inside a group shouldn't be a problem. The issue that I discovered with proxies in V-Ray 3.4 is that if you forget to paint just one face somewhere, and leave it with default material, proxy will break and model will be painted without any logic. So, see if you painted everything before you make a proxy, don't leave anything with default material.

I made an update to my Round Corner plugin this morning, and now I can't see the toolbar with all the options when I activate the command. Is this a problem only on my computer, or does someone else have it too?
As you can see on screenshot, the command is active, there is text in bottom left and right, but I don't see the toolbar. I tried erasing it, erasing and reinstalling Fredo6 library, but still same result.

Here is my method (I'm not good at making GIFs):
- Select all the main or big faces
- Copy
- Select everything
- Delete
- Paste in place
- Offset, offset, offset on the outside, all of them
- Clean up with CleanUp
- Select all- intersect with selection
- Select those big faces again
- Copy
- Select all
- Delete
- Paste in place.
Seems complicated, but it isn't.

RE: Vray 3.4 Flythrough animation
Although I love SketchUp, it really does terrible job with animation. Especially in combo with V-Ray. Try some other plugin, Lumion or maybe iRay (there was some nice example recently, I think of the house which is advertised on Sketchucation front page). Or even better, try other 3D software, rendering a walkthrough in SketchUp is almost impossible.

Yes, happened to me a few times also. But it wasn't a consistent problem. It usually happened when the rendering was very complicated and it would just forget to transfer some files. Check render log to see if there are any warnings of missing maps. Make sure the main machine isn't busy with some other task, let it focus only on rendering. And make sure your connection is solid and stable, with no interruptions. Sometimes my router would disconnect and then the files wouldn't be sent to render node.

Just be patient. That's most important, this sort of work takes time. Stick to quads. This is more about understanding topology and having a good plan when you model, than it is about the plugins.

Looks nice. There are some minor technical issues, like bump too strong on the floor, reflection on the lamps, maybe too much ambient occlusion around sofa (if you used that?). To me, it only looks a little dark overall, I would increase the strength of daylight. But good job overall

Emissive is known to produce noise. Since mesh light is introduced in new V-Ray, try using that instead of emissive layer.

I think I found out what's the problem. If there are any unpainted faces in the model, so they only have default white material applied, then V-Ray gets confused and messes everything up. If you paint the component with some material, no matter which one, just not default, so each face has some color assigned, then everything seems to be fine. Please confirm if you get the same result.

I think there was another thread few months ago where people complained about this issue, seems proxies haven't been fixed yet.
I tried your model, got same result as you did, only when I erased all the materials, exploded it until there were no groups and components left, only then did it seem to work. These warehouse models are most often built from imported models, people don't respect any order, create a hundred materials to paint it, it's a complete mess. I don't know if V-Ray is to blame, or someone's laziness and ignorance.
If this is important to you, then extract group by group, erase color by color from it, explode, group again, paint again etc. Might take some hours. Try to keep materials count reasonable.
