Could it be this plugin could use an update for V2014? If I use the Archiver option in the file menu - the current file gets renamed to some 10 digit name.tmp and no copy is made to the Archiver sub-directory. Windows7 X64

    • RE: Building thickness

A quick addition to my earlier comment:

      1. you could also just offset the floorplane and pushpull it up just below the rooflevel.
      2. if you make a group of a closed object it will automatically turn into a solid. You can only 3d print solid objects
      3. check the specs and material of your 3d printer. it will depend the minimall thickness of the walls and roof and if you need supporting structures for the roof.
      4. check your units. If you want to 3d print the model at some scale, the model should be scaled accordingly.

... Or is there a way for me to make them solid (so not void in middle like SU draws)

Normally when 3d printing you are charged for the amount (cm3) of printing material you use. If you make everything massive solids it will cost you a lot.

Making shells might be better. Just watch out the roof spans are not too large (ask the 3d printing service for their specs) or the material will need some kind of support structure to keep the roof in place.

      Hi friends,

I inserted a sketchup model in Layout 2013.

It appear in wireframe mode. When i open "edit in 3D view" in Layout, i can see my style.
bt when i m out of "edit n 3D view" it shows in wireframe mode,
I tried change its Style in Layout. But problem is same.
      Can u help,

Not sure if it's the same problem but 1) is it a complex model (high poly count) and/or 2) are you using a decent gfx card?

I was changing my noisy cooling on my gfx-card so for one day I had to use the embedded gfx on my cpu. High polycount models in Layout became transparent wireframes in vector and hybrid mode. Only in raster mode the style was displayed correctly.

Maybe try if a more simple model (some boxes) is displayed correctly with your style?

you did try this one as well?

      @nickchun said:

I had this same problem a while ago after reinstalling SU8 Pro. It turned out that there were empty folders left over from the previous uninstall. I had to make sure all old folders relating to SU in the 'Programs' folder were deleted and then did a fresh install. Then it worked. Don't know why because the old folders were empty.

      Hi,
I've not used my sketch up pro 8 for a while and went to use it but it's now crashing on the startup screen. I have tried to remove the plugin folder and reinstall the whole thing but it still crashes. can anyone help?

I think you already tried the right steps but I would try again:

      1. de-install SketchUp,
      2. reboot windows,
      3. run ccleaner or glary utilities to clean up your registry,
      4. install SketchUp,
      5. start sketchup,
      6. download your plugins via the Sketchucation Plugin store (latest versions of your plugins, installed at the right place etc).

      Hello Katerine,

Have you seen the xref manager plugin? http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=7329
I think it should solve your problem.

    • RE: Can I have a Gripes & Bitchin' for Su 2014 thread?

I really hope Ruby 2.0 added in release 2014 will enable programmers to make more powerful plugins that can fill in the gaps. I also hope the SketchUp development team has finished making the 'under the hood' improvements so they can work on adding the necessary 'above the hood' and even better performance improvements and adding new great functionality for the next release.

ps the effort spend for the new arc tool is a waste... didn't Didier Bur make a ruby for that already...in 2007?!

    • RE: Possible to change reseller to Trimble ?

I emailed Trimble yesterday with the same request, Still haven't heard back from them. Tomorrow it's taking my current reseller already 1 week to send me the new code for release 2014. Their response until know: "we're waiting for them to send us the codes."

Very strange and not happy about it... 8 hour trail period was already 90% gone on the first day... High hopes for tomorrow.

edit: at last, on Friday I get my new codes from the reseller & Trimble a few hours later.

    • RE: Wacom Pen in SketchUp?

Question: is there a way to exit a keyboard activated pan/zoom/orbit operation without 'breaking' the use of a tool (for instance the line tool) other than right-clicking and choosing exit?

For instance: choose line - click a point - click a point -press keyboard for pan - ... - continue from last point of line?

    • Possible to change reseller to Trimble ?

Question: is it possible to get my updated /future license directly online from Trimble instead of via my current reseller in The Netherlands?

I still have a few months support on 2013 and requested an update to 2014 on Friday. Still waiting and online it could work instantly I guess.

Did you try copying your previously installed version over first? Maybe you need to make sure the Plugins folder is cleared out first. Are you installing it under Users/...AppData/...Plugins?

I removed the previously installed artisan_loader.rb and artisan folder. Installed in user/appdata/...etc/plugins (See image)

edit: removed image because now it works thanks to Cotty (see next post).

Carsten, it works fine for me. Make sure you've got the current version and didn't just move an old version over from an earlier SU version.

The only problem I have now is reintegrating my plugins etc.. Opted out of the additional folders.rb > dropbox folder plugin setup for a Mega.co.nz account syncing folders straight to the ones in sketchup. Now to resync and deal with new folder names (plugins > Shippedextensions), plugins not working on transfer, what the heck!

*In windows it installs the plugins in \user\NAME\appdata\roaming\sketchup\sketchup2014*

edit: Installing with SketchUcation plugin store of course works great. Copy-ing the remaining plugins by hand to that directory works as well. Only Artisan doesn't work. Results in lots of start up errors when restarting Sketchup.

    • RE: SU2013 dimensions missing in LO at large scales

Hurrai, in the new release of SketchUp & Layout 2014 it's fixed! Thanks Trimble.

      @dave r said:

Why aren't you doing the dimensioning in LayOut anyway?

I do all my construction and working drawings in SketchUp and Layout. I need to be 100% sure the dimensions are correct. I add them in 3d mode, zooming in and out and thus can be sure the right points are being used for dimensioning. No problems with snapping to another point at the same xy but slightly different z.

I received a reply on my posting on the SketchUp product forum:

      @unknownuser said:

This is definitely a bug in LayOut 2013, and the only workaround that I'm aware of is to use Raster rendering or to do your labeling in LayOut directly.

We do have a fix for this bug, which will be available with the next release of SketchUp. I can't promise when that will be released, but stay tuned...
