I don't see the name as being an issue as well. I think it only offends those going out of their way to be offended.

wow Pete you have amazing modeling skills. So did I miss something, is there a SDS v2 out? or are you lucky enough to test it out?

I'm going to be using SDS 2 for most of my modeling and texturing, I'm alpha/beta testing it as most here know.

I don't think that is a city builder. I think that the video is meant to show that Lumion can handle city scenes with cars and lots of buildings...but I can be wrong.
I think you're right.

What a beautiful design (and render too!). We need more churches like this in England!
England needs more buildings like this. But churches? No.

I'm pretty sure that building maker is a useful tool in the right hands.
But a model like this doesn't exactly scream 'QUALITY' to me!I dont think that is ignorance.
That model was terrible. It was done in 30 seconds, or it was a quick try from someone trying out the app for the very first time.
And based upon that model, Building Maker was dismissed and jokingly renamed "Box Maker".
The same stupid criticism is made of SU and half this site is wetting their pants with indignation. But the same people who cry about SU being dismissed because of ignorance will be just as ignorant towards BM or 3DW.

Perhaps it should be renamed "box maker"?
Aren't you just being as ignorant towards BM as many people are towards SU?
I personally feel there's just as much ignorance shown towards BM and 3DW from Sketchucationers as there is of SU by outsiders.

Insight3D - Open Source
@unknownuser said:
insight3d lets you create 3D models from photographs. You give it a series of photos of a real scene (e.g., of a building), it automatically matches them and then calculates positions in space from which each photo has been taken (plus cameraโs optical parameters) along with a 3D pointcloud of the scene. You can then use insight3dโs modeling tools to create textured polygonal model.
Basically, it hopes to be "Photosynth + Canoma". Or "boujou + Imagemodeler". But it's also free and opensource (GNU AGPL 3). Check out the screenshots below or download it already.
Just saw this on CGTalk, so haven't tried it out yet.

I'd use 2d cutouts of players. There will be a lot of usable images on flickr under "high school football".

Chelsea play at Liverpool tomorrow. I hate Liverpool more than I hate anything.
Why's that, John?!
The general smug, obnoxious, attitude of the club and their supporters. The constant J96 campaigns while Heysel is brushed under the carpet. Steven Gerrard - innocent. "If any of our players dived, we'd be having a word", while Gerrard falls over if there's the rumour of a breeze. Rafael Benitez.
The Champions League semis under Mourinho may have also added some contribution.

Solo, I've heard a few things about college (american!) football, educate me! It's pretty well supported isn't it, with good stadia etc? Does it feed to the NFL? Or is it a stand-alone competition?
It's independent of the NFL. But obviously the best college players are picked up by the NFL clubs.
This is a nearly-accurate mock up of the Louisville Cardinals stadium that has just been completed. I don't follow American football at all, but I think Louisville is a barely ranked university for football.

RE: SketchUP 8
@jpac said:
If you are unhappy with SU free, buy Pro. If you are making money off this program, buy Pro. We vote with our money. THAT is an effective way to keep SU going, not complaining.
I'm underwhelmed by the release of SU8 Free. I've played around with it for a little bit, and I do think the introduction of colour imagery from GE is a good thing and the process will be made easier, but I don't think there's very much to be excited by.
But tbh the suggestion that people unhappy with SU8 Free should then go on buy the even more underwhelming SU8 Pro is utterly ridiculous. I'm disappointed by SU8 Free and wish it could have been better, but there's no way on earth that I'd toss Google $500 in the hope that the extra sales will spur them to make improvements. I don't think the world works like that. I think if Google knows they'll get enough sales with minor improvements then that's all they'll do. The best way to "vote with our money" is to not buy the pro version because then the message will be driven home that it doesn't offer enough for $500/$100 update fee/

Man, all the whining going on you'd think that Sketchup costs money... In my mind the only people who have a right to gripe is the Sketchup Pro users and Ruby Plugin developers.
For all you users who want to gripe about the normal FREE version of Sketchup not being whatever you think it should be: Why don't you create something so useful and extensible as Sketchup(very unlikely) and then give it away for free, and see how magnanimous you feel when the unwashed masses come to your door bearing pitchforks demanding your head.
It's FREE! how ungrateful can you be?
Sketchup Pro users please disregard this message as it is not aimed at you.
Best,
Jason. The same stupid argument you make against the free users can be made against the Pro users. Why don't the pro users go out and create the Sketchup Pro beater and sell that for $500?

~ v 6.4 for me.
SU7 and SU8 are just point upgrades from SU6 IMO. Sketchup is still an awesome programme, but it is pretty much as good as it's ever going to be.

RE: Google 3D warehouse
When you shared the model to the 3DW are you sure the box "Google Earth Ready: this 3D model is real, current and correctly-located." was checked?
On your My Models page of the 3DW, there are options for All Models, Pending Google Earth Models etc. Which options does you model show up with?
