Dear Dave, Sounds like an interesting method. Would you like to do a brief tut as I'm not sure I understand the technique. Thanks, Bob

John, NO. You should not pay extra for the exporters - practically they are the only difference between Free and Pro. Unfortunately I'm on a PC (Windows) so I'm a bit stumped here but if you have installed the Pro version onto your computer (and again - install the Pro version!), there should be a place to enter your license info. That's it and no other problems.

Eport a PDF or EPS file from File>Export>2D Graphic. Illustrator can open a PDF file, and the EPS file is identical in content. When you open a SU-generated PDF or EPS in Illustrator, the image is combined into a single entity. I have found that right-clicking on it and selecting "release compound path" will let the individual objects to be edited. I am not an Illustrator expert, so the exact terminology escapes me. Note that the PDF or EPS export has no textures or shadows. Printing a SU model to PDF with a PDF printer driver like Adobe Acrobat generally produces a raster image file. Anssi

The image I provided here is very simple. The one's I am really interested in are of French chairs. The Thonet rocker is a classic, but I was working on a simpler "cafe" chair. It has curved braces and other things that join immediately below the seat. So, somewhere in the process of making the parts, I got something out of line by a fraction of a degree. I tried: Looking at the whole thing from the front view in parallel projection. Creating a huge rectangular block that aligned with the center and "pushing" it through the contents I had already made. I then used "intersect with model to create edges. After erasing all of the excess, I mirrored the "half chair" and "moved" everything back together. I am getting better at this, but the parts are so close I would think they would snap together. Thanks, John D

If you orbit so that you are 'facing' the red-blue plane i.e. looking along the green axis, then it's more likely that the inference engine will pick up the red-blue plane to draw on. Bob

Thanks. Screen grabs and callouts with SnagIt; you have to use screen grabs or if you want to show any of the SU controls. Edited the final image in Xara because it make sit easy to re-size and shuffle on the page. Bob
