RE: Thanks Plugin Creators
@krisidious said:
hey everyone... just wanted to take a moment to stop and thank all the wonderful plugin creators out here in SketchUp Land... thanks for taking the time to create the wonderful things you do and thanks for sharing them all with us. not to mention the tech support to go along with them... your contribution to this community is unfathomable...
you are very appreciated... SketchUp would not be half the necessity it is with out you...
Couldn't agree more - my thanks go out as well.

RE: Does anyone else..
I check for updates on plugins I haven't used for a while, and try to keep up with any updates freshly posted, such as Fredos' bezier. Sometimes the updates slip by however. I might be a formidible task but Jims' "Plugins Index" (which should maybe be a sticky) in the plugins forum is a great list of plugins and has current dates on most of them. Maybe the individual authors might take a peek and offer the latest date for their creations?? I tend to check that list often now that I found it.
By the way - thank you Jim, for putting that list, with links, together -

RE: Any Artlantis users out there?
Tim, I am not an Artlantis user, but as a primary "American English" user, reading through your step by step instructions, I am sure I could follow them sucessfully. Good context, word useage etc.
I hope that is some help.

RE: Atlast Sketchup 3
Troy,
I found my original disk, version 2.0. The disk included video as well as written tutorials. Attached are a few things easily pulled out, a quick reference card and an .rtf with new features. (rtf wouldn't upload- so I saved it as a .pdf)
The other files are too large. If you think it would be helpful I could loan you the disk (I would like it back as a souvenier), it is an obsolete demo so shouldn't be any copyright issues. PM me if you want to.

Using 'free' and 'Autodesk' together just sounds wrong!, what's the catch?
I think it is called - lure them in, set the hook while you test the beta. The bill comes later when they decide it is good enough to sell and the free software "Expires"
Sorry for being so cynical.
(By the way, it is pretty slick)

RE: Latest Kitchen
Design and equipment are great Dermot, but I agree with the others that the "hot pink" or "bubble gum pink", what ever, is unfortunate.
Maybe photograph it in black and white for the old portfolio?

RE: Writer's Thread
Good "imagery" would like to read more. As Gaieus suggested, why not start your own account? Hope you can (or convince your brother) to illustrate the story. Maybe an interesting model challenge for SU'rs to come up with the asteroid, ship and/or the worms

Hi Ken,
I'm in the same boat. They flash up briefly then go way? Must be just part of it's process.
UI upgraded this weekend- very valuable tool set made better!
I get the same screen flashes - they are just barely visable and don't seem to slow the startup significantly. It would be interesting to see why this happens. I will also e-mail GOH to compliment his work and ask why the screen flashes. -
RE: Converting 3DS to SKP
3ds is on the file/import menu, scroll down on the "files of type:" box and click on the file. Maybe it is available only the pro version??
I have sucessfully imported 3ds models into sketchup.

RE: Happy Birthday to me!
Happy birthday Eric and happy first " re-birthday" Sid. (I celebrated my 4th "r-b" on June 26, ).
Been a pleasure - hope to see both of you around for many more. -
RE: Plugin for viewports
You can do that in Layout but have not seen anything in the plug-ins to open multiple views in SU.

RE: Best inside SU renderer under $200
Don't forget Podium, works inside and is $179.00. the new version 2 coming out, now in free beta, seems to be quite an improvement. Pretty simple to use and I have found it to meet my needs. I have not seen or created many examples that someone will mistake for real time photographs, but it is good, specially for interiors.

RE: A Sharp Story
Here is a whole bunch of music jokes
http://www.prestonbeachwood.com/jokes.html
I like the several variations on "perfect pitch" "perfect pitch - its when you throw the (fill in your most hated instrument) into the toilet and it doesn't hit the rim" - Or "its when you throw your (fill in the blank) into the dumpster and it lands directly on the bagpipes (or accordian, etc.)."

RE: Podium v2 beta presets tweaking
I haven't played much with the V2 beta, but you might find a quicker and more in depth response from other users on the Podium forum. They have good FAQ's and tutorials. The Podium staff may notice your problem sooner and respond as well

RE: Is the Gallery section starting to resemble 3DWH?
@solo said:
I say leave things the way they are, It just takes a click to get out of a thread with works one may feel trivial, and then you can ignore it from there onwards.
Maybe folks could use 'WIP' in the title also.
I agree with Pete and others that think we should keep it as is. Adding "WIP" to the subject line, or ""no post work", "Podium render" etc. would be enough. Easy enough to click through and pick out you personal interest.
Some years ago the moderators simplified the forum and I think it has been and will be for the best.

RE: Introduction
@aesthete.design said:
Hi,
Just wanted to introduce ourselves. We are Aesthete Designs, LLC. We are a young and vibrant interior design working with residential clients in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.
We came across the site while searching for Artlantis Studio 3 reviews/complaints. We are not "new" to SketchUp as we have had it installed for awhile; however, we have not yet played with it and need to go through the tutorials and such.
Looks like this site has a lot of great information and we look forward to browsing around as we start to use SketchUp more often.
Thanks
Welcome to the forum from a fellow Hoosier (Crown Point). You will not regret stumbling on to this group. By all means play with SU and although it is a very intuitive program, the tutorials are great for getting a fast start. Forum topic areas are also a great way to pick up and offer info when your ready. Browse the Gallery too, it is a good way to see how the program is used over many different professions, trades and purely artistic endevors.
Again, welcome and look forward to seeing you somewhere in the forum
Jim
