If an Apple hardware is a knock off, then when they sign on a Apple site, won't Apple be able to check cyphered certificates, or are those successfully counterfeit too? Didn't something like that happen before with downloading apps., or music, on a fake phone?

RE: Matched Photo
Guess it can't be helped. Upon close examination, because the ground plane is sloped down, her head is above the middle ground people. You could change this with photoshop prior to placing your building into the photo, but then that would be a distortion of the real view. Is it worth the effort to get another photo without any foreground people? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi Paul, I didn't download the plugin, but based on your description, how is it different from viewing SketchUp in parallel projection?
Oops, I meant 2 point perspective. Thanks for the explanation.

RE: Vray vs. Shaderlight ?
Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Good advice getting to know any render application. -
RE: Vray vs. Shaderlight ?
Unless I didn't read the answers properly (have been guilty of that before), none of which directly addresses owgo's question:

........I think Vray can finish them about 30% faster than Shaderlight...Anyone know anything about it? Why is Vray faster? Or I have done something wrong there? Thanks!
I assume that both are biased render applications, so that is not the factor. If the question has a answer, I too would like to know what is the reason one application is faster then the other on the same machine?

RE: Problems with dump file, temp folder and error 183
Just a guess, but do you have enough space on your hard drive?

RE: PLUGIN REQUEST - GFA Calculation
Might be difficult to do for building volumes that have different floor areas, heights, etc.

When I made 55, I found that I could no longer ride that spinning cup without feeling like tossing my cookies. Now in my late 60s, even with a harness and a carabiner, I'm not sure that my stomach could take these.

RE: Day And Night :::
Typically, I think that many renders have too little people (mine included), this is the first time I think that there may be too many.:) Nice renders, I really like lots of features like the ac paving.
Btw, what kind of rooms are behind the blank walls? At first I thought stairs at the end of the building, but nothing comes down to grade.

RE: WIP_House on a Hill_update_7-23-11
House, country club?-) For a building that scale, I would raise the ground floor ceiling.

RE: Matched Photo
Guy, I find the lady in the foreground out of scale. Is the object of the render the biggest building on the right? If so I would opp. for a more symmetrical view, may be a tall image with more sky above. I also find the empty left lower portion of the image to be a distraction. The empty sky on the upper left could also use a foreground tree.
Nice building, will do much to upgrade the neighborhood.

Dave, does that include the infected fellows on this forum that seem to have the time to find this stuff?-)

RE: To render or to work Native with Photoshop?
If the presentation is being used to "sell the client" on the design (vs. one that will be used to market), then what ever is the most cost effective way. I personally find that a medium end, easy to use render application best suited for that.
With reasonable hardware, and the wide varieties of intermediate render applications available (under $200.00), unless you are dealing with a high end photo real image, you can pass photoshop, and pop a decent render out in under an hour.
Btw, Your model seems reasonably complex, including back ground buildings, landscaping accessories, etc. It appears that you have chosen to hide outline, and spent a ton of time on the track, etc. (far more then I would on a "sell the design" render). I do think your illustrations are quite nice and more then adequate. If anything I would only add lots of people, daytime sky (with clouds), and a bit of foreground landscaping. Nice work.

......Example, you make the first floor of a house and the other person builds the second floor on top of it, the second floor would just be a locked group that doesn't mess with your geometry........
What happens when you decide to move the stairway, or a plumbing stack independently?

RE: Stop dreaming...
They are commercially bringing this thing to Hawaii's beaches. Another worm in the can along with sail boards, paddle boards, jet skies, speed boats, sleds, skis, para-sails, submarines etc. etc. What happens to surfing, and swimming? Well, I am probably exaggerating, but you get the point.

RE: Animation
Don't take it the wrong way. What people are saying, is that although your question seems simple, the answer is not.

RE: Cooperative online modeling
If I understand your proposal, when I select a face (or any other entity) to edit, that face and all its connected entities would be locked up for my use. As I edit that face, the connecting geometry would adjust, and from time to time the model updated.
Can't be simple and exclude textures, if the face had a texture, all other faces with that texture must be locked up for my use since I could modify that texture, but problem is that its instances through our the model would change. If someone else were already editing another face with that texture, I would then be locked out. If you allowed textures to be an exemption, when and by whom can it be changed? How about components, would you not permit components to be modified?
Sounds difficult. The connecting entities would be changing in a indirect manner (potentially having impact on the design decisions of another modeler), and the locking of entities with multiple instances could result in locking out a large part of the model.
But, I have never worked on a multi user Cad system, any ideas from those that have?
