Im in the same boat. I really wish Software company's were more transparent with the direction they were planing on travelling. Im the same as you Andy and dont upgrade for the use of Layout. It just seems everything that I personally wish SU to be, John Bacus is militantly apposed to.

This laptop is def on my wish list, Ive had the G74sx for the last 2 years and its done a great job.

I have had that Laptop for the last 2yrs I think. Its been so good that my next laptop upgrade will be another Asus G(what ever it is then). I still run a desktop with higher spec's at the office. But needed another option for presenting to clients or working from home.

I use Sketchup, Autocad 2012, Vray4Su, Thearender. All of which work fine.

The laptop is a tank. I'd call it more of a mobile desktop rather than a laptop. Like Rich said mine has a GTX560m 2gb which is a good card for a laptop. But I drool over the latest G75 with the GTX780m 4bg. Mmmmmmmmmm very nice.

Hate the thought I've made you feel like that. The way I saw it you were not given the chance to bug fix before being pushed into making the new version. I wouldn't complain if i had the money to splash out on Vray2. Id just get on with it. But new house, new kitchen and brothers wedding overseas equals zero money in bank. Hope to upgrade next year.

Hey hey I never said that i wanted a free upgrade. I totally understand that Vray2 is full of well worth buying features. But I do feel that the upgrade price is very high for people whom have had a pretty rough ride with previous versions. I'm just comparing prices and experiences with other render software such as Thearender.

Yes I was able to make money off rendering with 1.49.01, but also feel I lost money with its instability and god knows how many days/weeks spent researching work rounds. No insult to developers whom we all know work very hard and had their development road map changed when Chaosgroup bought ASGvis. Also the nightmare from what I hear developing a software within Sketchup's limitations.

I will upgrade at some point because a stable Vray is a fantastic tool. I was just voicing my opinion and frustration which i think I'm entitled to after blood sweat and tears with 1.49.01, which i realize isn't gona change a thing cos the price is the price.

Ok.....now time for me to let it go and convince my partner that Vray will be a good investment.

Still bugs me that we have to pay big money to upgrade to Vray 2 because the last version was never fixed. I just simply can't afford to upgrade at present. I lost pacientence using previous version.

What version Vray are you running?

Hi all, been away from Vray testing because of heavy work load and haven't installed the latest beta. Did I miss something big, does Vray 1.6 use GPU to RT render?

I have the same laptop. Your GPU is the GeForce GTX 670M which is pretty fast considering it fits into a laptop. Like I said above I dont know if Vray 1.6 uses GPU's, but using the GTX670M with Thea Render RT works very well. So your GPU is fine

There's a very painful bug with SU8 where some materials applied from the SU material palette cause an immediate bugsplat. SU7 and SU2013 do not have this problem

Oh yes they do. Read my post above. I did a clean sweep, installed 2013 and no other plugins other than Vray. I just can't seem to fix it. I've tried alsorts of things.

Yup me to on my Home Laptop, I deleted everything, plugins the works. Then installed SU 2013 and Vray Beta 1.6 and the same problem happened. Crazy thing is its not happening on my work computer. Ive sent a bug report.

I had tried to put that inverted alpha into the Fresnel slots before. The result came out with a chrome like reflection. What I forgot was to lower the value of the reflection multiplier. I had to reduce it to 0.1. So you were right.

Im a bit rusty on Vray. Its been awhile since Ive done a project with it. Im having trouble remembering how to do things. I imported a 3ds model which was mapped with tiff images to make into a proxie. The tiff images have transparency. When I try and make a reflection layer, reflections show up in the transparency areas. How do I fix this? I feel I should know this, but like I said its been awhile.

Hi I tried instal new vray 1.6 and started exactly same issue. If are you using new vray try turn it of in extension panel or uninstall it, works for me.. maybe some ruby conflict
