Fredo tools works regardless of BezierSplines being enabled or not.
NOTE: I only encountered this error since updating to 4.3b and prior to that it was working correctly.

NOTE: this result was found with only the LibFredo and BezierSpline plug-ins running - SU8 Pro on Windows Vista SP2 Ruby 1.9.3

NOTE: it may be due to LibTraductor - the old version is still in the plug-in directory and the Lib6Traductor in the LibFredo dir is not compatible with the BezierSpline calls.

i've found that the line on the red axis can touch the group or component as it's a separate object. but i've found that the start of the lines need to be both on the same side otherwise the results are not good... having the object away from the red axis line seems to create an offset in the final result which means the final dimensions can be off.

best to use the clinetool, TIG's context guide tool, and the xline2line.rb and xlines.rb plugins. i actually never knew there was a dedicated edit menu command to delete guides since i never really ever wholesale delete them, usually have them in groups and layers as needed.

very nice! i had created a whole set of 2D dynamic components to do the walls, ceilings, doors, windows, etc sectionals. i'll definitely post some feedback.

not sure how best to describe. the dynamic "Component Attributes" in the Window menu is missing. i've cleared out SU8 Pro and reinstalled and then it was there. then restarting the program it wasn't there. using the Dynamic component toolbar or the right context menu, it's there. i've done this with and without any plugins added so it's not the plugins doing it.

not sure why it does this... more annoying than not.

the second part (maybe related or not) is more problematic. if i make the DC as a "group" then "make component" and use the "Save As" context menu option, then load the component, then arbitrarily some attributes have disappeared. if I Save A Copy As, the component is "masked" when i load it but if i explode it, it's normal - attributes etc. it's almost like the attributes are not being stored in the component itself versus in the whole file.

i've attached 2 files: 1) the source file containing a group and a component and a component from the group, 2) another file with the components loaded (and the group to component object failing).

thoughts? maybe even though the group can be built up as a DC, it really needs to be a component from the outset before building it.

you'd almost want a wish list of things to add:

1. switchable between metric and imperial
2. skin thickness and perhaps a settable offset value so skin on adjoining wall/floor/ceiling/roof join on edges correctly...
3. skin and rim joists on floor (ability to select rim joints as lumber and joists as engineered for example)
4. openings in floor (create floor/ceiling framing with openings for stairs, AC vents, etc)
5. openings in roof (skylights, hatches)

basically the last two would apply the window and door functionality to the roof and floor objects.

just a thought or tow on the "media room" part of it, maybe a valence to hide a drop down screen on the side large windows (ok), or over the two end windows (better choice) and have drapes in a valence on either side to cut down lighting and improve acoustics. this way the screen is lower to the eyes (way too high as shown), hidden when not in use (no sense messing up the nice woodwork with TV screens...) or use some nice furniture for the media equipment in front of the 2 end windows. on the ceiling - hang down the projector (if using it, in a nice box is best) and consider the acoustics (likely to be an echo chamber as-is) and putting in some nicely finished peak-of-the-room absorption this could also be a polycylindrical diffuser along the peak.

something like dynamic components for walls and ceiling may be easier than scripts - setting the individual side and roof members then extending and positioning. maybe several sets to cover your bases.

a complete awesome plugin TIG! i did find one peculiar behavior with groups created with housebuilder - the xplode function seems to think the entities are deleted. here's the ruby console message:

how about Double Line? you can set the width and height and trace it along the lines. testing on the detailed SU file took about 2 minutes for about 30% and the walls are all straight and even. downside - no grouping but easy enough to then punch holes etc.

added my version: just create the helix and extend a triangle equal to one segment and use shape bender. follow-me doesn't give as nearly a reliable result... then scale down.

i usually pre-calculate the length of the target shape. e.g. if i have a 4' length and need to bend it in a arc, i figure out the length of the arc so the bent object is the correct length.

it might be simpler to use extrude tools to make the outline of the shape and extrude it. or maybe vertex tools could manipulate the grid correctly...

i think in general having a complete line of a company's product ready to go in SU compatible packages is a good thing...

i usually drop a note to the company to ask if they plan on providing SU materials/components (a tickler if you will) and sometimes they respond yes, they plan on doing it someday, or no. for some when I've modeled a component or texture I offer it back to them and so far the response has been decent (50% or so).
