I made it with Thru Paint also, but the texture was a bit jumpy ,especially at the top.
I am not sure rich made it in Sketchup.

If you look back a little you will see that we talk about that too, it's called Quad face tools, you can find it in the plugins library.

RE: SubD examples and models
Thanks !
Lovely shoes !
As with Artisan, adding two lines makes is rounder adding three lines makes it sharper and also rounder.
The crease tool is gorgeous, especially that is editable while the surfaces is subdivided, but at low subdivisions it will never offer you the roundness of the adding detail.
In the futures, if possible, Thomas would you add more geometry along the lines Crease is activated ?

RE: SubD examples and models
It is a bit of a time consumer, but you get smoother surfaces.

RE: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools
Hi Box and Pilou,
Thanks for the tips!
I tried your method,Box but it gives me some errors here and there when removing the extra loops.
I think the adding loops is better though, as you first insert one at the middle then you insert one in the half you want, and so on. At the end there are fewer loops to remove and fewer errors. It is better to remove the extra loop immediately you created the new one.Yes, Thomas, loop offset would be a great addition. Unless you can create a loop mover that would move the loop at a specified point after it was inserted-something like moving a section cut plane back and forth.
The Line tool is still unpolishead leaving behind here and there both diagonals.

RE: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools
Can I select the place where loops are inserted? They usually are inserted at the half of the line you choose, is there any way that would change ?

RE: Ctrl-Z (Undo) Problem
The SCF plugin store would help you with them, I believe. If not there is a Ruby line that disables them all.

RE: Help with deleting a photo in Photo Match
Yes. The photomatch is set up in a scene. Delete that scene and the image will disappear.
Then you need to fix the perspective and you can do that by going to Camera/Field of view and write 35 and hit enter. You should be done.
If it's too much work for you, just copy your geometry to a different empty file. -
RE: Ctrl-Z (Undo) Problem
If I am not wrong, this was/is the fault of a plugin. Try disabling your plugins and see if it still happens.

RE: SubD examples and models
Nice, simple model up there !!!

Just one Q:
You use crease on rims?Yes, whenever I want the edge sharp. And even if you want it a bit rounded you can use Crease but you need to bump the number of subdivisions to get it nicely rounded. In that case you will consider adding another loop to control the roundness.

RE: How should I tackle this?
I believe that if it is hard for you to do it with regular tools, then is harder to go with special tools as Artisan or SubD.
-
RE: How should I tackle this?
Sure.
What I did to your mesh : removed smaller triangles which will give bumps, triangulated all the quads and oriented the diagonals, and I doubled the main line to keep that detail into the final geometry. At last I ran smooth from the artisan toolbar, as the geometry seemed edgy in some places.
-
RE: How should I tackle this?
Artisan is not working well with a geometry that has already been built like that. You need to start from scratch thinking you will smooth it.
I managed to get your shape to work with artisan, but I believe is still inferior to the Curviloft surface.
I would still stick with Curviloft. Now that you say this is the shape you want, then just copy the main profiles and smooth them and connect them with Curviloft. I have used Curvizard/Smooth curve to smooth the curves and then.. magic.Edit/
The more curves you use, the more control you have. If you believe you know the body shape, just draw the main curves and then connect them.
-
RE: How should I tackle this?
Then I suppose you can do this, using Curviloft.
If you know the shape, and a bit of Sketchup things should just come to you !
-
RE: How should I tackle this?
Trace over the outside of that front view, then use Push/pull to draw the main body.
Then trace the front side part and try to intersect it with the main shape.Actually I believe you can use follow me from the top to the front down. It looks like the top shape goes down to the front.
Mainly this is how it should be done in an easy way !

RE: How should I tackle this?
Get some blueprints or at least some good parallel pictures.
-
RE: Geometry cleaning
Take the move tool and connect each edge from one side to the other.
I believe that is why inside blender you see it like that.
-
RE: Push/pull double click wrong direction
I get this behavior from time to time too, I believe is somehow user related.
