    • Ruby Console Dialogue Box

I've been testing some Plug-ins. Somehow, the Ruby Console Dialogue Box appears on the screen whenever I start up SketchUp. How do re-set it so that it no longer appears? (I know I can just close the box when it appears, but it's irritating.)

      Thanks,
      Dave

Tried 1001bit Tools in SketchUp 13. It crashes.
Also, is there an instructional .pdf anywhere?
Seems like there might be some useful features in it.

      Thanks, Dave

    • RE: SketchUp 8 M2 is out!

Please give me more information about how to download the latest update for 8 Pro. Help, Find Latest Update sends me to the download option. But, I'm not sure what version is the latest and I couldn't find a designation for it. I've got an exe file on my desktop, but it appears to be old. I've got a version 8.0.4811 as the file currently running my program. Please help. Thanks, Dave Wood

    • RE: Using 2D Tools

TIG- Thanks for your quick reply. I've got the 2D Tools folder, deBabelizer, 2D#.rb, and the zip 4.9 2D Tools file in my SketchUp 7/Plugins directory. I've got a tool bar. I can draw 2D lines, rectangles, cicles, polygons. I get instructions and I can change settings in line styles, but the lines stay black and continuous. I've tried seleting 2D lines first and then executing the line style command. I then tried just executing the line style command and then selecting lines with the line style pencil point icon. That actually has the effect of erasing (or hiding?) the 2D line. I can make faces. I've not been able to make the hatch command work consistantly. I've tried applying hatch to a face and also picking the inside of a 2D rectangle with no face with no results. I can select different patterns. I can change settings on 2D text and type text in the dialogue box but nothing happens when I try to place the text. I didn't understand the description of the adjust line tool. Maybe like a trim tool, which would be great?
      ??? Any ideas?
I think these tools you've developed would be extremely helpful if I can get them to work. I'm very impressed that you've been able to develop them. Thanks, again, Dave

    • Using 2D Tools

      Hey, out there,

I'm trying to use 2D tools. Would like to avoid going into Layout for text, line styles, etc. I've loaded it into the plug-ins folder and the files and subfiles seem to be there. I can't seem to understand how to change line styles or use 2D text!. Please help a rather clueless user. Thanks, Dave

    • RE: Huge Layout Files

b- I did find it. I had the edit resolution on high. I set it at low and it's
made a huge difference. Saving and changing pages on the order of 10x faster!.
The dimensions command doesn't seem to work quite as accurately, but it gets me
close enough. I think there's a slight loss of accuracy in layout anyway. I just
adjust the text, since I know what the dimensions should be. Please thank j, as well. Dave

j- thanks, much. Is edit resolution in SketchUp? I couldn't find it during a quick check of the layout menu tabs. I'll check in sketchup. Thanks.

    • Huge Layout Files

Hello out there: Is there a way to economize on Layout file sizes?
I'm using Layout some and I'm noticing it produces huge files and they grow quickly. Two examples: One, I've got a model of an office warehouse about 15,000 sf in area. The SketchUp file is about 14mb and it's Layout mate is 42 mb with only about 10 pages, each with one large image referencing the model and a little text. The bigger problem is a residential addition and renovation that is about 5,000 sf in area. There's a fair amount of detail in the model, with probably 30 scenes. The SketchUp file is 26mb. The Layout file is 126mb! and becoming quite slow. It has 20 pages, each with one or two images referencing the model. I'm trying (in vain?)to do a simple "builder's" set. I've got some pages with dimensions and a couple with a fair amount of text. I need a few more pages with images and I need to add text and dimensions to most pages. There will be few if any details. "Captain, she can't take much more! She's about to blow!" Please help if you can.

    • Best Graphics Card

      Hello,
We're doing some significant size modelling. We know some of the work arounds, but still are looking for better performance from our graphics card. We're currently using an nvideo 512 mb card. SketchUp was not able to make a recommendation. Can anyone recommend the best manufacturer and size card? Thanks, Dave Wood

    • Camera Position-Flight Path

      Hello out there,
I want to do a fly around for a building.
I'd like to be able to mark a series of camera positions along a path. Is there a way?.
I downloaded flightpath2.rb from Smustard. It's in the proper Plug-ins folder but doesnt' show up anywhere on menu tabs. Any ideas?
Is it clear how to use flight path once I get it to appear in SketchUp?

      Thanks, Dave Wood

    • RE: Print to Scale Crop Region

Thanks, Paul. I do have Pro. Just not too familiar with it. But it sounds like the best way. The best alternative is suppose is as you suggest- get the area I want covering as much of the monitor screen as possible and then fiddle with it. Thanks, much. Dave

      Hello,
I want to print a plan to scale on 11x17 paper. I know the image will fit on the paper, but I can't get the image properly located on the paper in Print Preview. I've even tried moving the axes. Please let me know how to do this. thanks for your help.

    • RE: Changing Dashed Lines

      Thanks, again, TIG,

I opened the 2D toolbar and couldn't get the help file from there, either. I can open the .htm file directly in the 2D Tools subdirectory. I get a message that the internet explorer can't display webpage. Windows can't diagnose the problem. What is the web browser? Good question, keep in mind you're working with a relative novice.-- The top of the window says SketchUcation Community Forums.- Internet Explorer provided by Dell. Below I've got a couple of Google search "panels" and a microsoft bing search "panel". I didn't have time to look into the commands, but a read some of the instructions. You started to lose me a little with some the info re: how the lines reside on edges, faces, etc. and how the width of the line is affected. I imagine it might be overly difficult to add some illustrations. See, you give the people all this, and all they do is ask for more! Thanks again very much. I'm looking forward to using some of these tools.

    • RE: Changing Dashed Lines

Thanks, TIG, for the quick response. Happy New Year. I've got 2d Tools loaded in and was tinkering with it a little. I think this will be very help set of tools. I can't access the help page from the 2d Tools menu. I get a can't access web page notice. Trying to do custom style because I need wider gap between the dashes so they appear at smaller scale. If I draw a 2d line, select it and try to context click on it, I usually don't get the option to choose line styles. What is sequence of commands? Any I idea on the help option? Again, thanks much. • Changing Dashed Lines

      Hello,
I've got some dashed lines that don't read as dashed lines when printed. I would like to change the scale of them (wider gaps between the lines) so they read better at a smaller scale. When I select the lines, they're broken up into many entities, so it seems the only way to make the change is to replace the dashed line with a new solid line and then replace the new solid line with a new dashed line with a different scaling factor! Is there another way or different plug-in that I could use for dashed lines? Thanks much. Dave

Thanks, as well to Xrok1. I'm glad there are so many people smarter than me out there.
The 2D Tools plug-in sounds really interesting- I'm not that well-versed in how to find things.
TIG, could you please tell me where to find HTM (guide?) I looked in the Extenstions index in SketchUcaction, SMustard, and the Library Depot. Did I miss something? Thanks so much.
