    • RE: Help building a slide

      Hi Horn,

Thanks for the quick reply and the tip, but the problem I have with using the follow me tool..

The side panel is larger at the top, and gradually gets smaller towards the bottom of the slide, so if I'm to use follow me then the side panel would be same height all around

I've attached my sketchup file, didn't realise I could do that.. but that includes the side profile on a layer that I imported from a DWG

I refuse to believe that's not possible without additional plugins?!

    • Help building a slide

      Hi,

Wondering if anyone could help me, seems to be really simple what I'm trying to achieve.. but for some reason I just can't find a way to make it work

Basically I'm trying to create a slide, with the side panels angled outwards.. see my attachment, I can't seem to create a face from my lines

I tried the create face plugin but it just says 36 edges selected, 0 faces added

Any ideas how best to going about this?

      Thanks

I usually just tweak the standard textures to suit my needs. But this site has some really nice free textures: http://luzindirecta.luxisessentia.com/

Nomeradona has some materials on his blog as well: http://www.sketchupvraymaterials.blogspot.ca/

      Hope these help

Thanks alot, downloading these now.. see how it goes!!

    • Help with vray materials

Anyone able to recommend any places to find some vray materials?

I have the vismat collection, but for the most part it doesn't have the kind of materials that I need.

Ideally, I'm looking for materials such as, powder coated steel, translucent plastics (polycarbonate), alupanel + brick, wood, grass, concrete etc

Trying to take my renders to the next stage, for the most part standard sketchup textures don't look great once rendered, seeing all the renders around here makes me feel like I should be trying harder!

      Any help is appreciated πŸ˜„

Here's a couple of screenshots to further illustrate what I'm trying to achieve:

    • Building faces that are not coplaner?

Hi, don't suppose anyone could tell me how I could go about creating a face when the geometry is not coplaner?

Would this even be possible without painstaking workarounds involved?

Basically I'm trying to create a curved 5mm thick sheet of plastic to cover my model, but in this case both sides are facing outwards at an angle, so the bottom length of the sheet/curve would be for example 800mm leading up to 2000mm at the top.

I haven't even came close to a 'that'll do' with this, so frustrating, guessing I'm just going about it in the wrong way?
