Nice. Why not create a texture from an orthagonal view?

RE: Weird Windows 7 problem
Thanks for the suggestions.
I've already checked for hidden files (no luck)
Cannot find an AppDate folder, nor the temp folder suggested.I am contacting the computer gurus who built the machine and set it up; there is an issue with my CAD program, as well. Oh, the joys of a new computer!

Weird Windows 7 problem
Recently got a new computer with Windows 7 (had XP) so not entirely up to speed on it, but do know how to find files.
Last few days I've downloaded some components from FormFonts. They appear in SU, and have no problems using them. However, I decided to better organize them by creating some new folders. But, when I open the folders they are in, they do not appear! Anyone have any experience with this?

RE: Another Remake
I think it still looks a bit too bright. How about something like a dark olive drab, something with gray or brown in it.
Also, you could use a better grass texture. I've seen some people use a grass texture with "lawnmower stripes" in it - that would look good.
Then, throw in some people and VOILA! -
RE: Another Remake
Looks like an interesting design. i think it would help if you toned down the hue on the roosf - it looks cartoonish compared ot the rest of the image, and is distracting.

RE: My First Microwave

I'd give it two thumbs up, but I see you haven't modeled the bag of popcorn that should be inside it, yet. -
RE: Log house
IMHO, everything from the shoreline up looks better in the first image (the textures on the building are clearer, the colors of the trees look better, the sky isn't washed out, etc.), but I prefer the water in the lower image.

RE: Non-stop harassing sales phone calls
Ken, I think your best bet is to enter your number in the Do Not Call list, as others have suggested. I did that years ago, and I haven't had a call from a telemarketer since. You'll still get the odd call from companies you do business with (if you allow them), charities, and political candidates, though.

RE: How does your Country rate in the Software Piracy stakes?
I do wonder how much law enforcement affects those percentages; do those countries with high piracy rates have lax enforcement, or perhaps difficult for companies to sue? i know here in the U.S., not too long ago, there were very well publicized prosecutions of people for downloading music from share sights, and they were sued for HUGE amounts. So, in this country at least, people know if you are caught pirating software, songs, movies, etc. you can end up paying big for it.

RE: How does your Country rate in the Software Piracy stakes?
I am not surprised China is not far up on the list. I think it is partially a cultural issue. Years ago, we had an intern from China; she couldn't understand why we would pay money for software "when you could just download it from the internet." The concept of intellectual property rights seemed foreign to her. But then, so was the concept of a Tibet ("There is no Tibet! It's China!" note: emphasis was hers).

RE: Almost Christmas
nice one, John. You've mastered modeling/rendering these buildings, so maybe you just need a new modeling challenge...

RE: Neon Sign Project
The four day time-line is no excuse - you only need four hours of sleep a day.

Looks like a perfect match to the historic photo.

RE: Neon Sign Project
Looks good. A few thoughts:
-
I think your right to stick with contemporary cars, people: it's a modern-day restoration, and you want to show how it will look today, not yesteryear (it would be nice to compare it to a historic photo, though).

Model the adjacent buildings, for context, and so your image doesn't look incomplete.
-
I believe the marquee sign letters are missplaced. Typically, those horizontal lines (over the white back-lit panel) are external plastic or metal frames, and the letters are painted on clear acrylic panels that slip into those frmaes. See image below. That would make the letters clearer to read.

No street lights?

I think the image is cropped too short at the bottom.
Nice looking project. Hope you have better luck with codes people than I did on the last theatre restoration I worked on

RE: Amazing tree generator
It's part of the New World Order, Chris. Your not supposed to question "why?"
