      Thanks

These are all low resolution mock ups around 2000*1600 but I am very happy with them si will start on the larger more detailed versions this week.

Here is the Samson without wheels.

More detailed? What did you leave off...screwheads?
Am blown away by your work.

Hmmmm...interesting. A somewhat complicated-and-retro looking docking station for a simple, modern device.

      Nice rendering.

    • RE: 2 church designs

I am not familiar with Romanian architecture, so take my CONSTRUCTIVE criticism with a grain of salt. I think the entrance on the first design could use some development - it looks like two aluminum storefront entrances you'd find on a typical retail establishment. It really doesn't express the building or space within. Also, not too sure about the horizontal glass box projecting across the front. As a design element on its own it looks nice, but not too sure about on this building. You have a vertical building, try emphasizing it some more at the entrance, as you've done at other parts ofthe design.

I think the second design needs some detailing and texturing, and some tweaking - for instance, do you really want surface-mounted fluorescent light fixtures on the ceiling of the sanctuary? Extend the site so it is not floating in a sea of blue. Why a U.S. flag?

    • RE: Vet School Labs

Thanks, Guys. There were more images, but basically very large rooms filled with lots of the same equipment.

Mike, I kept referring to them as "blood buckets" until I came across a vet supply website. I'm guessing its called a "kick" bucket 'cause people push it around with their feet.

A few of a series of images I had to do recently for a client - surgery, surgery prep, anatomy lab and diagnostic labs for a new school of veterinary medicine. If anyone needs a small animal anesthesia machine, or a kick bucket, just ask.

    • RE: Route 66 Gas Station project

Very nicely done, Steve. There were a lot of interesting gas stations designed and built as late as the 60s. Most designers today I think look down on them, but they all had more character, IMHO, than most of the bland cookie-cutter gas stations built today.

I would argue in a historic preservation project, if the building is to continue to be occupied and used, and not just a museum, then sometimes changes have to be made to make it useable. I've restored three historic theatres from the '20s, and each of them had to have their lobbies and toilet rooms expanded to meet modern-day requirements. Unless the balconies are completely hideous and incompatable, leave them.

That's what I thought. In America, that would be called a housing development, or just "housing" for short. In English, a colony refers to an area (such as a city or nation) that is ruled by another country (for example, before gaining independence, India was a British colony).

Looks like a nice project. The shrubs look great; where did you get them, or did you create 'em?

Looks great, Carloh. in the first image, you might want to shift it slightly, so the tree trunk isn't hidden by the post, and it doesn't look like the top of the tree is growing out of that post.

      Can you define colony?

Very nice. I've seen that couch design, but wonder if it is more of a design statement than a useful piece of furniture - doesn't look comfortable.

    • RE: Modern house

      Looking good so far.

As to file size, are you using components? Also, are you using any complicated models where something simple would do? For instance, what looks to be a winged sculpture below the three red art panels in the living room could be achieved with three simple pieces of geometry painted a simple color, as opposed to a detailed component, since the detailing is lost from this distance. Also, if you've modeled the entire house, use differrent layers and turn them off when contents not seen in a particular view.

The texture on the seesaw isn't realistic - the wood grain looks too large, and the grain on the long board should be running parallel with that board, not vertical. Unless the house is built on the very edge of a cliff, the lack of a background looks odd. It's obvious that the two poolside chairs in the foreground are the same component (shape of the cushion) - flip one, so it's not so obvious. There are more experienced people than me who can give more pointers, but they would probably want ot know which rendering program you are using.

    • RE: Golden Section: Debunked

They used the golden section...they didn't use the golden section...kinda reminds me of architecture school, when everyone was trying to come up with a concept (you know, that idea that your design is supposed to be based on) 30 minutes before jury.

Very nice, Jason. I've always liked the orthogonal views produced in SU (prob 'cause I spent so much time creating rendered elevations in school). My one crit is that the people seem too big, comparing them to the doors.
