That story continues Steve, to the rep asking if the person has the boxes his computer came in. Yes, he says, is it that bad? Yes take it back to the shop you bought it from and tell them you are too stupid to own a computer. Right, back to hunting for my boxes.

Very nice work indeed! I had to laugh about your Tundra, though.

Joe, Yup, some cats are OK. Our DamaTheCat lived to be a ripe old 19 year old. She was a Tortie and also could be carried around like your PDC. Before she passed she, with a little help form us, raised a 6 week old mix breed pup we found on the side of the road in Baja. We still have and love the Pup which is marvelous except for the traits that Dama instilled in her during the pup's childhood. This cat of ours we called Dama, but her real name was 'Ookedama' which is Japanese for 'Most Honorable Hair Ball'. Critters are a pain, but it's hard to live without them once you have had them around. Thanks for the comment. Bye Now, Mike

Hey All, Thanks for the interest to a 'dead' and probably buried version of this great program. Again I say that the old v8 really serves my very modest drawings well. My 'Prom-Date' would be to have the latest 'Pro' version and even with*'sfto1'* suggestion I still think it would be a waste on me. I've taken 'DaveR's' and *'slbaumgartnwe's'*suggestions and still have no 'Preference' or 'Model Info' drop downs. I did go to my iMac which has a good working v8 on it and did the following: Copied and pasted the .plist file from the iMac's '~/library/preference' folder to by MBP. No Good, the v8 still worked the same. I then copied and pasted the SU folder from the iMac '~/library/applicationsupport/googlesketchup8/sketchup' folder to my MBP and still no good. Next I copied the complete SU v8 program from the iMac's '/application' folder to an external HD. Plugged it into the MBP and fired up v8 from the external HD..... still no Preference orModel Info drop downs. I can, using SU v8 on the external HD, open it on the iMac and it runs great, no issues. Now I believe that there is something going on with my OS X Siera install in my MBP, but I have no issues with my other programs. It's not so much that a part of v8 doesn't work on the MBP, it's more that* I can't find the reason*.... Things like this drive me crazy. My wife stops talking to me and my dog hides. (I don't mind the first part, but I really like my dog. Again, thanks to all that gave some input or at least suffered through my lament ....... Mike

Gaieus, pbacot, You guys are great! Hope your holiday is going good and lots of stuff to play with. Gotta confess, after I posted my question it dawned on me about the "scale" tool. And I figured out about the different ways to use it..... good stuff. Feel bad about asking, but at the time I was lost. Only drawback is if I resize the "thing" none of my "scenes" of the "thing" change to the new size..... It's not a problem because making several new dimension scenes is easier than resizing each component or a complete re-draw. I'm back cranking down the road.......... pbacot,,,,,, I like the "tape" tool and will play with the site you sent. Thank again to both of you,, Later Mike

Gaieus,, pbacot,, @unknownuser said: As for printing two scenes on one page; I couldn't advise more than go Pro (if you really intending to) and do it from LayOut since AFAIK it is not possible from SU. So Gaieus,,,,, let me practice on you..... Me to wife: "Yes, I agree with you about combining views on one page of paper, dear. It would really cut down on paper usage and be environmentally helpful. Gaieus from the SU forum says that the PRO version can do this. See, read his post. What do ya think??? Maybe NOW I can upgrade? (Beg, grovel, grovel.)" Yea, that should really do the trick!! Additionally, Gaieus, I read the string about Leopard,,,,,,, I'm going to hold off for a while on the install.... thanks. pbacot,,,,, @unknownuser said: here may be something else happening, by your description. The jagged look of lines in printing is due to their orientation to the view, not their orthographic direction. I think you are correct. Any issues with the jagged lines are when the lines are not on one of the axis'. Like on the taper of a long leg or the slant of seven degrees on the back of a dining room chair. It's tolerable because all my drawings are "build-only" type, not "glam" shots. All the pretty stuff I see and have in my mind when I build from the drawing. Still, for what I do in my meager little world of CAD, SU is still better for me than my TurboCad. Thanks you guys......

@damathecat said: I can't believe you fell for my "line"...... you are correct! But it does feel gooooood when I can figure something out for myself. Sometimes I will try for a least 90 seconds.......... Hey, where can I look to find out what all the boxes/*/pencils mean next to the posts??? And if one of my posts are answered is there a way for me to mark it as answered?? You can edit the original post and change the title, add to the front (Solved), that way when someone does a search in the future they see your question and that fact that the thread contains the answer. I "fell for it" because I know and have seen that sort of attitude in the past. One guy at work, who has since "moved on", gave the attitude that he knew exactly what he was doing... we are still finding stuff he scr*wed.

Alsatic, Thanks for the direction to the rudy.... It works OK for what I do. It's not much different than doing it the "manual" way using the protractor and text tools. This is because, if I'm doing it correctly, you have to do three clicks counterclockwise to get the angle, then select it, explode it, and then clean up the line and arch it added to the drawing. Anyway, thanks to all of you for the input.... (James and Chris) I'm set now,

Dama, There is an item called Check for Updates on the Help menu. Layout is included with the Pro version of SU only. If you're using the free version, as I am, you don't have it. ~Voder
