Moving Drawing From Mac To WIN
-
My primary computer is an iMac 24". I use an old Dell with WIN XP for remote file viewing. Both computers have SU-8 installed.
Question:
When I move a drawing that was drawn on the iMac to the Dell all the demensions/text is of a different size and font. I have to manually change to a smaller size and font for each "scene" in the drawing. Very time consuming.
Is there an easier way to accomplish this other than manually doing it for each scene in all my drawings?

Do you have that font on the Dell computer too? You could either copy the font files from OSX to Windows or choose a default font that exists on both systems (in the template and then save as template).

Aerilius,,
Yes,,, both computers have the font and size that the original drawing was created with.
My default template on the iMac uses 12pt size font, which is to large for my Dell's 13" screen.
I have to change the size to 8pt otherwise the screen is covered with 12pt dem's.
My default template font and size is set properly for any "new" drawings that I might draw on the Dell. It's just that when I open a file/drawing that was created on the iMac the font size doesn't change to the 8pt Dell default template size.....
Thanks for the reply....

What is the font you're using? It could also have to do with the difference in screen resolution between the iMac and the PC. Try printing from the Dell and see what the text looks like.

Dave R,
I have changed both the iMac and Dell's default templates to use Ariel font. The iMac uses 12 pt. and the Dell uses 8pt.
Moving files back and forth the font and sizes remain the same as when created on whatever computer.
I think you are correct about screen resolution. It's not a big deal as my drawings aren't all that large..... I can live with it.....
I thank you for your response....

If you do much dimensioning or other screen text, you might find it worthwhile to go to the Pro version to get LayOut. There are much better tools for those things in LayOut than in SketchUp.
One thing you'll notice is when you print direct from SketchUp, a font size that is easy to read on screen may be too large in print. When I was using SketchUp's dimensioning tool for my drawings, I found that I had to go through and set them to 6 or 8 point for printing. But then I couldn't read them easily on screen.

Understand...... Untill my "banker" OK's the $$ for Pro I'll adjust and deal with it....
Thanks again!
