there is actually a number of free ruby scripts that allow you to eather mark camera location or even tell you the distance to a particular object, this takes out all guess work of setting the distance in vray

CameraDistance.rb - Returns the distance to an object in the direct line of sight.
cameraLines.rb - Connects all cameras of all pages with lines. (needs more then one page)

There is also old Film & Stage plugin that kind a works in sketchup 7, allows you to mark camera location, and do all the measurement.

Nice modeling and detailing. Two minor issues: in the first image, the wood grain on the jamb should be running vertical, not horizontal; and in the last image, the bump texture on the rake should be running parallel to it's slope, not horizontal.

Those look like they would be hard to see through 😄 You might want to make sure they are transparent (at least a little) from the back side. Also maybe put them on a desk or something. They look a bit weird floating in thin air.

I managed to get a good DOF due to a low res HDRI. To be honest, that's one of the things I don't like about my model. But I'm glad you like it. 😄

I think that I got it all sorted out. I have put it onto the Gallery.

Your description of your method is such that I didn't need to download your skp file. But the tool that I am suggesting will be not only for the square faces that I have shown, but also for use with curved lines on the faces.

I really appreciate your feedback though.

Maybe I will have to see if I can purchase a copy of "Ruby script for SketchUp for dummies".

It looks like something someone would actually make. Obviously some knowledge of the real world , how materials work, helps out. I think more of that light from the right, shining a little into the shelf would make it even sadder.
