• Protude or JPP
• SketchyFFD or FredoScale
• QuadFaceTools

I don't have an english version at the moment, but there is a setting in the view (?) menu about component editing for this.

You should use SketchUp MAKE 2017, the last dektop version of the free for personal use MAKE version.

As you like, isn't one satisfying answer not enough?

Maybe you can try some file recovery softwares or repair the usb drive and be lucky that this repairs these files too?

A fast way would be the intersection with such a "grid" component...
