RE: See Bing augmented reality
Fantastic stuff. The presenter did say that historic images could be used. I guess they will be hard to integrate if the streets/buildings have changed much though.

Have you thought about adding syntax highlighting?
I actually had it in there at the beginning. Unfortunately (since it uses Javascript), I found that it would get very slow with moderately sized files. But I agree it would be nice.
Cheers,
AlexI am way out of my depth here not knowing any ruby or javascript but could you not use the same functionality provided by the browser that is used to highlight words in say a google search?

RE: After a carve/cut plugin
I'm not really clear what you are after, however if Boolean difference is not it, then Zorro might answer your needs.

RE: [Plugin][$] FredoScale - v3.6a - 01 Apr 24
Another way to turn slicing on is to use the right click context menu once the shape is selected with the bender tool.

RE: Newbie - intro+question
As the latest SU newsletter says, some folk advocate the use of both layers and the outliner to control model visibility and thus the "heaviness of whatever you have to deal with at one time.

RE: [REQ] Folding around a circle...
I'm getting things pretty close with Chris's Shapebender. I could have made the gap smaller and I used Fredoscale to reduce the size of the generated shape to the given circle which I had turned into a polyline using Fredoscale.

RE: [REQ] Folding around a circle...
Fredo's Fredoscale bend tool will certainly bend it - might need a bit of tweaking to get an exact bend.

RE: Out of Registration
Dave,
I think the chairs work quite well - not so much the boat. As you say, a different background for the paper could enhance the effect. -

Much faster than the plugin I demonstrated?
Umm, yes. I have no drawing to do.
Regarding sharing my plugin, I haven't shared anything because I'm not sure about how I can control piracy with certainty. I'm a capitalist at heart. So, I like to get paid for work that I do.
In that case, are you selling it?

RE: [REQ] FBX Import
I meant that Rhino could import FBX and export something that SU could use rather than a native SU file - ditto Cheetah thus using these programs as intermediaries only.
-
RE: [REQ] FBX Import
If you have a Mac available and not too much money then Cheetah 3D will import FBX and export in formats that SU can use.Likewse Rhino can do this - certainly in the Windows version but on my Mac the function seems to crash the program (it's only in Beta for the Mac). The Evaluation version of Rhino will let you save 25 times before demanding money..

That's nice. In my case, I've already written a script that creates DT's parametrically. It is much faster and gives me exactly the configuration that I desire.
Sounds great - care to share it?

RE: Dovetails The Easy Way
Dave, I look forward to it!
At the risk of being a pedant, I'd point out that "half-pins" refers more to the shape than the actual size as a half pin - if using narrow pins - can be a very weak thing, especially at the end of a row.

RE: Found this - very useful
I tried again but this time I specified the exact number of objects to pierce - in my first attempt I specified more than there were. Works OK now.
Also, have a look at his other SU stuff - there's an excellent dovetail cum drawer maker there. Unfortunately it only seems to work in Windows so I have to run my free version of SU in Parallels on My Mac to see it in action.

RE: Found this - very useful
Doesn't seem to work properly for me. It removed the faces of stuff.

RE: Thoughts on creating technical illustrations?
I reckon some better shading is needed to give an impression of depth - looks rather vague and very conceptual at present. Alternatively, a true 2D ortho drawing.

RE: Thoughts on creating technical illustrations?
No, Bonzai is very much a Mac thing too!

RE: [Plugin] Extrude Edges by Face
TIG,
True, I was jumbling the threads, I got confused here :-
Face - Faces..
and went on to see which of the plugins was actually giving me colours and got hung up on EEBRF. A different naming scheme would make it easier for us mortals! After all, EEBRBF extrudes a selected face along chosen edges, so something like "ExtrudeaFacebyRails" could help differentiate it better.

RE: [Plugin] Extrude Edges by Face
Frenchy,
I am sure. I replaced the latest version with a version from 18 Feb and that works fine. Changing the older one out for the newer again and it still hangs at the same point.
I am on a Mac - maybe there's a difference?
