[REQ] Folding around a circle...

Hi All,
I've been searching everywhere I could think of, but I can't seen to find a ruby-script, which will enable me to fold a flat mesh...
It should work similar to the Unfold ruby, but instead of unfolding a mesh, it should fold it around i.e. a circle...
Does such a ruby exist...??
I've attached an image of what I mean - hoping it will help understanding what I'm seeking...

Would Chris Fullmer's Shape Bender do the job for you?

Fredo's Fredoscale bend tool will certainly bend it - might need a bit of tweaking to get an exact bend.

I tried it, but it doesn't allow closed circles...
Even if I use a not closed circle, it seem to be distorting the original mesh...Personally I have NO experience creating a ruby-script myself, but I assume that this script would be fairly easy to make...
I.e. if the user can select a mesh and then define how many sides the circle should have, then it would be simple math to divide the mesh into the side quantity defined and then rotate each side (I.e. sides defined = 24 - 360/24 = 15 degrees) adding the degree for each side and rotate it until it ends up in a circle...But I just don't know how to do this...

I'm getting things pretty close with Chris's Shapebender. I could have made the gap smaller and I used Fredoscale to reduce the size of the generated shape to the given circle which I had turned into a polyline using Fredoscale.

I typically do the same thing when using Shape Bender on a closed shape. Convert it to a segmented polyline and remove a small segment. If only it preserved the UV's....

Maybe even folding around any predetermined shape? -

I've also played with the Shapebender script, but I can't get it to work...
I was hoping that some of the ruby-gurus had an ace in their sleeves...Well... I'll keep hoping someone will make this script - some day...
