Elisei,
I'd be interested to learn how you did the modelling of the surface. I can't get it that smooth. I used TIG's EEBR and as can be seen, I get "pleats" at the front.

I think it has served you well so far and is asking for a tip!
What inspiring work - thank you for showing it to us. It's also fascinating to see how you use SU - I love the tidbit about tracing over the SU output!
I am not sure this will work. I previously edited that file directly to adjust the entity in it that refers to the number of recent items (in response to another question here, increasing a given value of 10 to 15. SU just overwrote the amended plist file and restored the original value of 10 - in the process telling me that I was using and expired copy of SU - happily, this warning disappeared once I clicked on the menu item for License.
I would have asked a similar question but indeed as Chris asked, meaning the dome not the mold as a mold design will depend on the material of the finished article. For instance, can the material be cast, or is it a glass fibre cloth/resin etc.
For a casting, I would envisage something like this - shown in section - plainly bridges would be needed to stop the middle falling into the mold.
This doesn't seem to work for me on my setup (Mac 10.6 , latest SU Pro). Does the code need updating?
It just looks like a big iPhone to me - and I'm a Mac fan..
I think the deals with newspapers and publishers will be key to its success or failure.
Where/how will women carry it my wife asks? (Quick - design a suitable handbag - speed modelling challenge!)
Custom toolbars can do that http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/2008/06/custom-toolbars-release-08-06-01.html
Tim,
For objects, I'd just Select All and copy it to a new window and save that as a new model version - leaving all the hidden stuff behind. You could then unhide it and inspect it for anything you might want to keep.
I don't think hidden geometry is what you want to delete automatically - everything with a curve would disappear! Equally deleting hidden objects doesn't seem sensible if you have hidden rather than deleted them in the first place.
Since you are on a Mac, this might help http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050919045154542
I haven't tried it so can't say if it works. I do suspect this is something the system can control independently of SU however.
Looks fab. Be great if they remember to include the buttons to create seamless tile-able textures out of it too...
The building and the man are terrific but I liked the sky in the Blender version best.
I find that the Logitech drivers and my Mac don't play nicely at all. Fortunately, there is a little jewel called Steermouse that does all and more than I need in getting mice to work to their potential with OS X.
I like the rendered stonework in the first image and the woodwork in the Blender image best. However, the windows in both are rather flat and dull compared to the PS version.
Jim,
Great Idea! It also seems to solve the problem of section planes appearing in Layout too.
