TomDC: I'll post one without the sharpening I have a action that has resizing and sharpening in it and I have been meaning to turn down the sharpness for awhile.

Daniel: Your right about the text, I wanted to use something though that isn't readily apparent what it says for right now. It may have come off as strange though. I don't think we will have struts. Although every time the structural guy looks at our work recently, his eyes shift back and forth and he sighs a lot. Kind of like what the hell are these architects thinking. It's only a 4'-8" overhang we are hoping to get by without the struts but once the calcs are run we'll know.

Dale & mitcorb: The green roof system isn't accessible but it's all part of LEED certification where we have to have either 100% green roof or 50% vegetative roof with the rest meeting a certain reflective index. (White roof).

mitcorb: This is the next process and I agree we haven't put much thought into the horizontal surfaces beyond preliminary planning such as sidewalk sizes, building offsets & traffic flow.

Wow, thank you all for the comments. I hope to update this project based on your help.

It's not like you can "hunt" with a lightsaber.

Amazing work Solo. Where did yo get the HDRI for this one?

Stinkie, you must pickup quickly on render engines. I tested Vray but it seemed to be too complicated for me. The thing is when you are both this good. It might seem like you both are a little overly critical,

but that is... I guess, how you get this good.

      Excellent!
What render engine are you using?
I'm trying to learn Thea myself. Also what is the name or designer of the chair in the scene? I've seen that before but can't recall.

    • RE: Photoshop Software

You used to get a free copy of photoshop LE with the purchase of a Wacom tablet or something similar.

I looked and that is still the case. So for $58 you can buy photoshop LE brand new and get a free wacom! 😉
      Check amazon.com
It's ususally cheaper than buying photoshop LE alone. (by about $20)

Here is a link describing the difference between the photoshop and photoshop elements (or photoshop LE).

      http://www.differencebetween.net/object/difference-between-photoshop-and-photoshop-elements/

If you get too advanced for photoshop elements then you shouldn't have a problem using GIMP at that point.

here is a link to the tablet

    • RE: Design Proposal

Thank you Boo. Here is the quick sky adjustment tutorial.
It's pretty basic but masking can be used for a lot of things. You can also use exported hidden line views as a way of selecting the sky easier.

    • Quick Fotosketcher Sky Adjustment Tutorial [Photoshop Mask]

      Based on Boofredlay's post:
      http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=29905

We are going to take his already excellent presentation and alter the sky a bit.

First open your image and use the magic wand tool to select the sky. You may have to add some holes to the selection set using the Marqee tool (M) and hold down Shift key.
      001selection.jpg

Once the whole sky area is selected goto the LAYER pull-down and select NEW then select "Layer Via Copy" on the fly out. (see image below)
      002layerviacopy.jpg

Now you have the sky on a separate layer, all by it's lonesome.
      003layersky.jpg

Next hold your tongue out like Michael Jordan and create a New Blank Layer and use the gradient tool to create a light colored sky. This should completely cover the whole photo.
      004gradienttool.jpg

Now with the gradient layer selected, goto the LAYER pull-down and select "Create Clipping Mask"
This will force the gradient layer to only show up in whatever area is filled in the layer below.
      005createclippingmask.jpg

You should have something that looks like the image below. Basically your gradient is covering up where you used to have a really cool textured sky.
      006clippingmask.jpg

Finally set your layer state to "Overlay" and your opacity to 74%
      007overlay.jpg

You should end up with something like this.
      008overlaydone.jpg

This setup now allows you to drop in a sky image in between the two masked layers. This will cause the newly added layer to become masked as well. A different result below.
      009skyoption.jpg

You can blend the gradient layer and the sky layer by using transparency (opacity setting) or you can set the gradient to overlay and the sky layer to screen or soft light.

Here is the before and after. It's a slight change but I feel it makes the image more warm and inviting. Thanks Boo for letting me use your image.

    • RE: Design Proposal

I just wanted to echo what Richard said. Excellent presentation. Only a couple comments. I think you could have shown more sky than ground by selectively cropping the images, and the sky through Fotosketcher sometimes looks gloomy. Would you mind if I used one of your images and did a quick fix tutorial for this?

Here in the South, "gone off" means that you went walkabout for a piece, have severely hurt someone, or used unholy language to disparage someone.

These activities may anger Basil Marceaux...

    • RE: Which renderer to choose

Solo is right this is a topic that comes up about once a week here. To find the best renderer for you, you have to do some testing. Twilight is a great renderer for SU, however if you do a lot more of larger scale site level work then you may want to look at something along the lines of Vue. It's all about finding the interface which you feel comfortable in, the capabilities you need in the software, and a result that's useful.

      Good Luck!
