      ● Create Symbolic Links for the plugins folders

right-click the folder and choose 'make symbolic link'.. you'll now have a folder called plugins symlink which will have the little little alias arrow on the folder icon.

I'm only basically familiar with Mac but I do have friends that often ask me to help them with theirs and I'm confused about how you Right Click on a one button mouse.

Sorry if I'm being stupid, but I know if I said right click to a girlfriend of mine she would simply pass out in confusion.

I believe it's the age old problem, you are working too small.
SU doesn't like to create tiny faces, they can exist however. So scale up by 10 and things will work better.
You can scale back down afterwards.

Some of us are equally fluent in both.

I was still at school when Australia converted to metric, so I actually think in both.
Mind you I do that with a few different languages as well.

I suggest you have a look at Daz 3D, it might be all you need and DAZ Studio 4 is completely free at the moment.

Sorry, I really have no idea, I tried it out of curiosity and it worked first time, simply clicking the buttons that it told me to click.
Perhaps your model is too complex or you internet connection speed is slow, it did take some time for it to load for me. As you cam see from my screen shot it was an incredibly basic model.

Also, make sure it does what you really want before spending too much time with it, I downloaded one of their free models and when brought into SU it is nothing more than a static figure, I was unable to manipulate it in any sort of rigging manner.

I have also received 5 emails from their support service asking me if I had any problems and if so to email them at support@mixamo.com
      Perhaps they can help.

I will go back and have a look if I can see anything that might help, but if I don't post back in 10 minutes or so I don't believe I can add any more to help.

Turning off fast feedback or OpenGl acceleration both fix the issue but render the system worthless.

I had the same issue when I installed my new GTX 560, I unticked both fast feedback and hardware acceleration in open gl. When I restarted the problem had gone away, but as you say this defeats the purpose of a good card.
However, I then re-enabled both fast feedback and hardware acceleration and restarted SU and the problem was still gone, and hasn't returned since.

And it may be interesting to note that SU8 had this problem while SU7 functioned perfectly.

    • RE: Using the Follow-Me tool?

It looks to be just that everything is a bit too small. SU has problems creating small or really big faces. I scaled it all up by a factor of 10 and it works fine, you can scale down afterwards and the faces will remain.

Tig has a free OBJ exporter which you will find here http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=33448

I made a block figure in SU, exported using tigs tool, uploaded, created and animated the character easily, but I'm not planning to pay to download it.

I personally think you would be better off looking for a more image based solution.

I'll put a link here for what is known as a Virtual tour.
You can click on it in different places and get more information etc
This one is fairly simple but you can click on the "i" button which takes you to a 360deg image of the space.
I'm using this link simply as an example of one I'm familiar with as it's one of the ships I have been involved with building.
There are many more example available on the internet.

Jeremy, you seem to be missing the main point here, a white knight isn't what you need, the extent of your project exceeds the capabilities of sketchup.

I have attached a model of one wing mad from components, which helps reduce the file size but does little to help the program cope with the amount of entities it has to "Draw".
It is one wing, one floor and is made from one module that I knocked together in a rough unfinished, and purely made up, construction stage of the building. Admittedly you wouldn't need most of the internal workings that this shows but it gives an Idea of how as you add detail the program struggles. Plus if each module is different then it gets worse, and if you add equipment, colours, textures and so on it will get worse.

Open it up and have a look how it behaves when you try to navigate around it.

    • RE: Our good friend Honoluludesktop has passed away.

I read this sad news minutes after Mike posted it and here I am 12 hours later and I still don't know what to say.

Getting to know people in the virtual world is a strange new phenomena, although you have never met them you get to know their personalities in a strangely unique way. You read their posts and look at their work and somehow you feel a personal connection. Some people annoy you, some you are indifferent to, some make you laugh out loud or quietly chuckle to yourself. You may never directly correspond with them but each post you read adds up to a complete personality that you are familiar with. Over time you get to know who is worth listening to and Honoluludesktop certainly was.

Honoluludesktop's posts were always a good read, helpful, patient, talented, often humorous and always trustworthy. I had noticed he hadn't been around for a while but that is usually pretty normal for forums, people come and go all the time. To know he won't be posting again is sad indeed.

My best wishes go out to Wesleys daughter, Elizabeth and all his friends and colleagues. He will be missed and is already.

May you rest peacefully and your spirit live on in your creations.

I wonder is there anything we as a community can do for his family?
