    • My first weeks with twilight

Ive been having fun with twilight render....an amazing plug-in for me, as I doubt I'd ever have been capable of mastering some of the other rendering SW that is out there.

So, can anyone tell why there is a mirror like edge to the pool side (lower right hand side) and how to get rid of this.2703POOL7.jpg

Love those pictures in Jar, what a nifty and creative idea.

I too gave some of my clients framed Sketchup images of their homes, as gifts this Christmas....
      They were gobsmacked with them.

The best gifts one can give, are alwaysthe ones we make. :O)

Just wanted to thank all the SUCF members for providing such great support and in depth clarity, mixed always, with gracious good humour.... It really says a lot about the members of this forum...

You Guy's and Girl's have helped me (and so many others) more than you'll ever know, over the past year.

May the new year bring us all good health and fun times in the decade that lays ahead of us.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

      @unknownuser said:

THOMAS MALTHUS first published his “Essay on the Principle of Population”, in which he forecast that population growth would outstrip the world’s food supply, in 1798. His timing was unfortunate, for something started happening around then which made nonsense of his ideas. As industrialisation swept through what is now the developed world, fertility fell sharply, first in France, then in Britain, then throughout Europe and America. When people got richer, families got smaller; and as families got smaller, people got richer.

Now, something similar is happening in developing countries. Fertility is falling and families are shrinking in places— such as Brazil, Indonesia, and even parts of India—that people think of as teeming with children. As our briefing shows, the fertility rate of half the world is now 2.1 or less—the magic number that is consistent with a stable population and is usually called “the replacement rate of fertility”. Sometime between 2020 and 2050 the world’s fertility rate will fall below the global replacement rate.

The same goes for all the talk of resource wars over water....

Here is my first attempt at 3 d trees... took about one hour.
The larger tree was made with a 24 S circle , but the smaller one was with only 6 sides.

Hope some of you find them worthy of using :O)

    • Select face to deselect edges or faces -ruby ?

Does anyone here recall a ruby script that allows one to select an object, right click to gives one the options to deselect all faces, or deselect all edges.

I'm trying to hide edges off of some parts of plant components and hiding edges with the eraser is tedious to say the least, while turning off the edge setting in styles is a little too much.... but nice to do with just one click.

Can anyone recall and point me in the right direction.... thanks :O)

hehe .....This is a funny and informative thread at the same time...

I have one... discovered by mistake yesterday.
If one is in a complicated model and want to focus attention to a particular part of the model, one can double click on the scroll wheel at the point one is interested in and that will centre that point in the middle of the screen....making orbiting even easier.

I've tried to save them in sketchup but that doesnt work.....So can someone please explain how to download these scripts and more importantly how to save and install them.... Keep in mind that, I'm somewhat of an ignoramus when it comes to computers...I've tried the ruby forum at Smustard but no answers..... so, any help is greatly appreciated thanks for your time

    • RE: Why is this happening?

Strange, I thought I had this problem licked with all of your help, but it still happens when I try to do a test with circles and box with some curved edges- Darn it.. But, thanks for the help in getting me to 32 bit color,EA it is much appreciated :O)

When I go to the Open Gl box and enter details I get

      Vendor: Intel
Renderer: Intel 965/963 Graphics Media accelerator
      GL version: 1.5.0 Build 6.14 -10-4785
      Gl U version : 1.2 2.0 Microsoft corp

Sorry to be a pest, but is this good enough,as it seems to be 1.5 version as needed on SU system requirements posted earlier, or am I simply better off with getting a new graphic card and if so, which one would people recommend?

Searching for info on G/Cards,I found this interesting info by Daniel Tal on his Blog http://www.land8lounge.com/profiles/blogs/sketchup-and-landscape?id=2025679%3ABlogPost%3A181501&page=2#comments

I think one uses the scale tool on the surface only. Select surface, use scale tool and use it to increase the top surface.

    • RE: Why is this happening?

      Thanks to all of you.

Well, I did try the suggestion and unchecked the use hardware acceleration and the problem vanished and i had whole face once more, but did get some strange color results on other models I'm working on.

when playing around with uncheck accelerator I also got a warning that SU detected I am using 16 bit window displays and should change settings to true color (32 bit).... sorry but, I'm a bit computer challenged how does one do this :O)

I think I have have an Intel card, again not sure how to find this out, but if i right click on my desktop and go to graphic options an intel sign comes up, which I haven not messed with... for obvious reasons :O)

      the sketchup hardware requirements says

      2+ GHz processor.

      2+ GB RAM.

500 MB of available hard-disk space.

3D class Video Card with 512+ MB of memory or higher. Please ensure that the video card driver supports OpenGL version 1.5 or higher and up to date.

SketchUp's performance relies heavily the graphics card driver and it's ability to support OpenGL 1.5 or higher. Historically, people have seen problems with ATI Radeon cards and Intel based cards with SketchUp. We don't recommend using these graphics cards with SketchUp at this time.

So I guess i have to get a new vid card.....meantime can anyone explain how I change my setting to true color 32 bit.... Thanks
