This screen shot helps when you install new plugins and everything gets messed up.
I've been using this trick for quite some time...but as no. of plugin toolbars increase the time taken in their management also increases...so the workspace screenshot is not a very good solution...eventually you do have to spend some time to arrange your workspace...I don't understand what is the damn bug that's causing all this toolbar crashes?? I mean what exactly goes wrong behind all the crashing workspace??
Hi everyone.. i eventually got the pdf file in my pc.. that i downloaded from this forum only.. has anyone tried this trick in sketchup 7.1 explained in this pdf.. ?? Is there a possibility that one can incorporate the registry hacks explained in this pdf to make a new ruby plugin?? I hope that's possible... I'm not confident about playing with my registry....
Hi everyone.. this is a war and peace graphic that i did in second year of my architecture course.. made in photoshop.. didn't know then that i was able to set the resolution from 72dpi to 300dpi... so the image quality is bit low..post you c&c

totally self taught - the rock god bit was me being facetious - only play for fun. It takes way too much time to be good at guitar - I'm trying my best to get good at modelling and rendering so the guitar is taking a back seat at the minute.
i see.. so at what age did you start playing the guitar?? you started with acoustic na??:) and have you undergone any formal training in rendering techniques in sketchup i.e. twilight, podium, any courses out there??

There's been a great number of brave attempts. Countless hours has been spent trying to hack the wretches thing - but all have returned bruised and scared.
i see.....but as the adidas line goes ..."IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING"... surely one genius is going to crack this problem...
there are so many people on this forum who are awesome at making plugins... is there a possibility that one can make a plugin that just stops this haywire toolbars problem??

so my model size is frequently 60-100MB. I keep my models running quickly by constantly purging, doing layer management and keeping shadows turned off.
60-100 mb???!!!! eeee!!! my highest till date is 28 mb.. lot of contours and trees.. the sketchup started to cry
inspite of hidden geometry, layer management and groups and components what's your pc config??

But when you render, VfSU will use the highres version.
so...will the render time increase or it will remain unaffected??
i'd like to post something here that i forgot... the installation gives a message that the setup itself has to abort as it's causing conflict with the setup itself!!! like... often while installing programs the setup asks us to close internet explorer, firefox, etc... this setup was really different .. i mean it was asking to terminate itself!!! !
will surely upload my model......no i didn't check the messages .. the grass material was itself already in the sketchup material library.. it wasn't loaded from anywhere else... i mean any external jpeg images..has anyone experienced a problem where the alpha channels for transparency load into sketchup but don't show in the renders?? this file maybe got corrupt because the flowers showed up in render when i copy pasted them into a new untitled file

very professional looking, well done.
I don't agree. I think it is closer to a talented high school design.
thanks a lot john for your appreciation.....I'm in an architecture college right now..

its funny how you don't exactly design buildings when doing a course in architecture!! (at first anyway) I remember making models of my feelings! and thinking "how the hell does this relate to architecture?!" but it all comes together in the end.
actually we had this subject arts and graphics in our second year.. where we're taught sketching, playing with colours, given knowledge about textures, environment observation, trees, landscapes and lot of other stuff we don't have this subject in third year..

very professional looking, well done. like the grayscale/colour guitar idea.
Thanks a lot Oli for appreciation... really going to show this page to my arts and graphics teacher... Ms. Rabab Zaidi...she really advised me to do some cool changes in this design...

It should detect your old license as that is not uninstalled.
eh....that's the license doesn't uninstall yeah???
@thomthom said:
It really depends on the scene.
Some times you need high res textures if you have a close up shot. But then you only need high res textures for the objects close to the camera. The further away an object is from the camera the smaller you can make the texture.
Another reason for large textures is to avoid repeating patterns in a texture - you then often need a texture covering a much larger area.
But I never load any textures into SU that are larger than 1024px. I try to keep them at about 512px. That is to keep SU's performance at an acceptable level, and also the SU file.
there we go....so is there any point that companies such as arroway are making huge textures...files as huge as 26 mb!!! that kill the perfomance of models??
