RE: New vray package 1.48.66
just did a some test about it (Vray materials that come with SU ones).
I created 3 simple materials. One with dirt map in diffuse. One with stucco in bump. and one imported in VFSU and applied in SU. The first two get problems: dirt maps and stucco do not come with. the last one come OK with reflexion diffuse etc...
Strange no perhaps it gets problem to carry procedural properties? -
RE: New vray package 1.48.66
yes thom I was thinking of doing this ourself. Here in SU forums or anywhere else were can upload some content.
It would be a sketchup biblio, but with vary embeded informations. perhaps it could be done at 3Dwarehouse?
I am also working on my own website but its taking time and my hard drive place will not be so big... -
RE: New vray package 1.48.66
Yes I can access that part of the site, no problems. It's the other one that ask for an access number and called DOWNLOAD AREA:
http://software.asgvis.com/index.php?page=shop.downloads&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=628&vmcchk=1&Itemid=62
And how about sharing more than materials: components as we do in 3Dwarehouse but with VRAY informations in it, lights etc.. -
New vray package 1.48.66
I dont know if Iam missing something but vray comes with nothing else than the program itself. I mean no components, materials or test scene...
It's quite surprising compared to other softwares.
So I wanted to know if theres material we can download from their (ASGVIS) download area. I already explored the common one but theres another I cant access (request a number I dont get, contacted C.Crudabue about it but no answer for now) so Thom maybe you can tell me what theres behind that place?
I think we also should begin our own Vray component place to share... I mainly think about prebuild light components... -
RE: New vray for sketchup
here it is thom! I jumped to vray and have a lot of questions of course!
For know it seems I only get the beta one no? full version is delayed
I will begin with materials:1)First thing is I cant understand how they are classified (not alphabetical, not like SU interface so how?)
So it would be most useful to be able to pick from the SU scene or even from the SU material palette...
When you get a scene with 200material+ its impossible to work without an efficient way to get them from the scene.
In the same direction, modified material (in VFSU) should be highlighted... UI improvement that should be easy to implement and so helpfull for us, no?
2) I dont manage to load material (vismat) in VFSU material editor and I cnat figure how to use them with Su materials ...hum lack of an help manual at this stage of course...I continue exploring and will share...
dispite those first criticism the improvements from last versions are very very impressive for what I've tested now: parsing time, png transparencie... -
RE: New vray for sketchup
And how about the licence activation system? Do we now get the freedom to easily move from one computer to another?
-
RE: New vray for sketchup
thanx
All that sound good...Just it should have been done much sooner IMO.
VFSU seems far from a full vray (max) and for almost same price it's to be taken in consideration.
And I remember the very slow improvement curve in previous versions if we compare to other software providers.
Promos before launch date is attractive but its also a big risk... -
New vray for sketchup
Does some of you beta testers can share informations about the new coming version of vray.
Most of all I'd like to know if parsing problem is completly solved and general workflow is much more SU friendly?
Their demos are impressive but I hesitate going to Vray because of very bad experience about their previous versio... -
Felix online renderer
Does someone already tested this?
http://www.felixrender.com
Principe seems interesting...hum!!! -
RE: The VUE thread
Does anyone know how to achieve a fresnel effect with a transparent or reflective material?
-
RE: The VUE thread
Great images solo..!
what are your setup for typical interior scene with sunlight coming from outside?
For now there are many things I am a little desorientated in vue:
1- in materials: what is difference between highlights and reflexions? I see in Vue preset materials that a metallic material get highlights and no reflexion but reflect however..
2- how do you scale procedural material to get realistic results... Is it a test and see process?
3- radiosity vs global illumination: I thought radiosity was a little obsolete notion those days with all other global illumination renderer (vray etc...). I suppose radiosity is mostly used in interior scene?
4- how do setup a fresnel effect in reflective materials?
...
thats all for the moment!
thanx again -
RE: The VUE thread
Ok solo
tried many times the 3ds importer and works fine in usual situations.
Now I get many more questions about vue possibilities, to know if its worth the investment for me:
Have you tried some interior renderings? If yes how do you set vue (atmosphere etc...) to get a good/fast results? -
RE: The VUE thread
thanx chris but its not a problem with one specific file tried with many skp... no way
So now I use 3DS... have to say the truth it works real fine. All materials textures etc are at the right place. the only missing thing is camera position. Perhaps someone can tell if theres a way to get those SU camera positions? -
RE: The VUE thread
SOLo
By the passed I bought VUE3.1 and vue4...but never managed to use them in professionnal conditions...
Today attracted by what I heard about VUE7 I decided to give it a new try:
Just downloaded: VUE7 infinite 7.5PLE
of course first thing I did..? importing a SU model!
(...SKP is an import option nice. Before trying I read all the tread and was already a little bit worry about some strange behaviour in this import process...)
first attempt, with a SU6 failed...its beginning nicely! then tried SU7, SU5, a very simple SU6model etc...
nothing works...what a shame to sell fonctions that do not work at all...Of course its PLE but thats no excuse in my point of view..!
However I kept cool and tried with a 3ds file...then miracle all works fine. Only cameras are not imported
I then begin to play with materials and all the stuff...boom badaboom!!!
nice bug splat!
I'll give it another try lately, perhaps I get no chance with vue... hum!
For now I cant get out of my mind that there are real professionnal softwares you can rely on in real professionnal conditions and others that are a little...young! -
RE: Hypershot Plug in for SU
doesn't seem to work with SU PRO7... anyone else has the same problem?
I had message errors for missing .rb files: totd.rd etc. I installed them manualy but now I still get a message error:"Error Loading File HyperShot.rb
No such file or directory - "
any idea?
thanx all -
RE: Uhm, where'd the sub-forums go.
I vote for the return of sub forums..!
Was much more easy to deal with...please! -
Strange lines, suite...
today I tried to go further with the "lighting line problem...
I put blinds before my window...and the "lines" do appear again:
1_ first image: no blinds
2_2nd: semi transparent blinds
3_non transparent blinds

RE: Daylight portals
I am impatient for this update Al... Waiting for your "gift" cause today its my birthday!
thanx
PS:
I continue testing your wonderful soft:
1- cutting planes do not work at all
2- Material problems:
Using AR3 materials (you told me material library are old AR3 no?): many advanced fonctions dont work (procedural bumps, angle blend etc...)
When creating NXT materials: procedural bumps work exept "pyramid"
angular blend=> crash sketchup.
Hope it helps...
