    • RE: Sketchup and Blender

Hi Solo and everyone I think I will join youonthis Blender trip...
I myself many times tried to jump from SU to Blender or SU to Modo, but always switched back to SU. Why? Mostly because I work on architectures and I feel so well an easy for that in Sketchup. Anyway if I want to go further on architectural renderings: HighPoly,UVs, integrated renderer etc... Blender feels a good choice

I recently booked to Andrew Price Architectural academy and I feel it very nice and exciting, if only I get more time to spend on it of course 😳

      ok I got it.
      Need to publish new version.
Really strange that ruby code (without SU calls) not interpreted the same way.
      Will fix this today.

      Thanx to help TIG

I have saved all leaves components in version 7 and now I get it to start...
Anyway it creates the trunk but no leaves and I get this error message from ruby console:

Yes Kris nothing happens at all...just frustration 😲

      Hi Kris,
Sorry for that but I only tested it on SU8 as dev started after SU8 was available. Do not know what functions are not correctly supported by previous versions.
Do you get at least the menu in plugins ?
I you activate the Ruby console, do you get some messages in the console ?

      Pascal

Yes the menu is there...When I choice "Make tree" it returns:

      Error: #<RuntimeError: Can't insert empty component.>

      Hope you can help

I'm stoked about the rendering Section Planes from SketchUp

Not to mention the Blender integration 👍

Yes very interesting option...hope other softwares will soon get this.
Anyway I find indigo is still a little expensive IMO

I can also now announce that after some licensing changes we're now able to offer Bloom Unit for free with one hour of cloud time

      great news Damble!!! 👍
So we can go for a sort of demo mode first hour.

Nice to see you so reactive about our demands. I sure things are gonna boost for you with that new approach.
Now I cant wait to take a look at Bloom unit 😛

I took time to have look at their website and explanations.
      It is driven by Iray.
Concept feels interesting. A little too busness oirented for me but the potential seems interesting.
However at this price I personnaly would appreciate a demo version (with free rendering time) and all the "online" tools: ok for a paying time, but it should be an option. Local rendering should be possible (on user PC...)

    • RE: Camera SHIFT

      Cool Illustration Andybot!
So everyone can understand what we are after!
Professionnal in architectural photo field always utilize such tool (In french it is called "un objectif à décentrement") It keeps the perspective height (usualy human eye) keep all the subject in the photo and vertical lines stay "vertical".
That is exactly what you do in sketchup when you activate "two point perspective". When it is on you can pan the image whitout loosing the perspective point of View.
It is a crucial tool in Archviz.
Take a look at Thea or Maxwell. the use ot this tool is absolutly obvious...In VFSU it is much less IMO!
      but andybot approach does work

      Andibot

I tested with one of my scene and it works fine. I put shift = 0.27
However I dont know the theory behind that, and how values of shift is related to the camera position or target..?

    • Camera SHIFT

Does anyone gets a workaround to use camera shifting possibility:
It is an absolute need in Archviz rendering so I cant imagine nobody found a way...
      By camera shift I mean:
Puting camera at human eye (1,60meter), keeping vertical lines but being able to view the entire model (from street to roof...)without losing verticality of the lines. SU does it very well with 2pt perspective, but that kind of view is not supported by Vray. Using camera Shift in VraY GUI doesnt produce vertical lines... 😲 😲

    • RE: {REQ} lens shift image exporter

Really something that is missing for exterior architecture.
I cant understand the interest of Lens shift in VFSU when it behaves the way it does. I cant even admit theres no workaround to do what we are after...it is a so obvious tool! 💚 💚

    • RE: E-on-Lumenrt render for Sketchup

RFOX...Personnaly I always find it suspicious about a soft when there's no démo version.
To say the truth, and without presuming qualities of the soft, many users invested in a soft we are claiming a demo version for so many weeks.
Dont take it to hard e-on team but how can it be? IMO it demonstrates a strange lack of reactivity!

    • RE: What is your favorite Photorealistic Renderer?

in the very right order IMO:
      Twilight
      Thea
      Kerkythea
      Vray
...But far before the others I'd say twilight because you get no boring on exporting your model and no endless material setup!
