Thanks everyone for your answers.
Happy to know that kerkethea is still free and that it'll be updated.
Pilou, I havn't heard about Yafaray for sketchup before, it seems a pretty good renderer too.
Thanks again.

Hi,
I would like to know what rendering softwares are still free for sketchup?
AFAIK, Indigo, Kerkythea, are no longer free...
thanks you in advance.
It is also clunky on my PC . it's even unusable on my core2duo.
I'm wondering if it isn't the "invetor fusion" renamed...?!Anyway I'm happy ( and Glad) to see how Sketchup has changed the modeling software world.
First of all , thanks.
I tried to follow the instruction on the readme file:
1 ) i've copied the space_view.py file in the scripts/ui folder replacing the older one ....OK
2 ) user preferences/input ...import key configuration...NOT OK :
when i choose import key it shows only the space_view.py file not the one with *.bend extention ...i must have missed something for sure ...?!any help please.
thanks everyone here for your valuable inputs... a lot of clever tips here.
I think i've seen some similar option (related to parametric pannels using variable holes form an dimensions) in a plugin dedicated to Revit; here is the link:
http://buildz.blogspot.com/2009/12/api-yi-yi-bitmap-to-panel-plugin.html
it would be interesting ( while seems rather difficult to make) to have a similar one for sketchup...
Excellent!
j'avais toujours souhaité avoir une liste des ruby par auteur...Excellent
Merci Frenchy Pilou et sourtout A BIG MERCI à Didier.
Thanks for the answer and sorry for my late one
My first need is for a simple stucture let say a "corrugated" cardbord composition .
HI !
Is there a basic analysis tool for Sketchup.. for let say analyse the behavior of a structure under it's own weight for example ( will it fall down..etc) ...a ruby or a plugin
thanks in advance.
This is really GREAT TIG... and BTW, I want to thank every ruby scripts developpers here again, you're making people happy .
On another side while it may be irrelevant in sketchup ?! , what if it was a live loft sort of modifing the profiles( on which the loft volume is created ) and sketchup regenerate automatically the lofted volume. maybe it is too much asked as i'm already very glad to have a loft tool in Sketchup
TIG, I discovered your plugin today & WHAT A GREAT addition to sketchup THANK YOU ...really
hope to see more
i've probably heard about the "Dennis technique" before knowing the "follow me" tool, it is to tell how it is part of the skp "tools set"
thanks & respect Dennis
thanks; I was using something like 240 but it is obviously not enough. i'll try with a lower value .
hi!
I've been trying maxwell but have a little problem with white walls ( they are sort of burn out !)... i've tried to change iso, but i don't think it's there where i should look !!!
Rickgraham
actually, i'm not sure they are all CAD users really. While a agree with you on that point, it seems more than an advanced features as it led to speak about outliner. isn't it ?

The audiance will be mainly be architecture students, however it's not a bad idea ...not at all.
thanks
I think the modifications for the basic stuffs are easy to make. What will need more indepth investigation is the example:
At first, i tried to find a good reference project (to be realised "live" in SKetchup. (a project that every student will recognise) like one from famous architects ( i thought about Botta's houses ) . i've choosen an exemple ( Origlio ) ; As far as i remember, i gave up because the example wasn't the simplest nor the easiest one to do in skp (while possible)_ consumed a lot of presentation time _... have to look further may be in Botta's exemples to find a simple one ( have you one in mind ? ).
Thank you VERY MUCH for your inputs and time Remus.
Thanks Remus, i'll try to see what i can do !
well, i've already prepared a presentation in three steps:
I- general overview
what is Sketchup (one slide presentation)
AEC oriented softwares on the market (purposes )
II- starting to use the software.
1-how SKetchup works ?
a- Sketchup interface
b- Sketchup Principle (lines = surfaces = volumes)
c- 3d work environment
e- Basic (2D) fonctions
f- pushpull tool
g- working on surfaces ( deleteing moving selecting )
h- drawings helps (vbs, etc...)
i- annotation tools
j- surface editing
2-Advanced fonctions
a- follow me tool
b- intersect with model
c- guide lines
e- layers
f- group & componant
g- material& styles
h- section & shadow
III- Examples ( from simple objects to urban models ) .
In the presentation part :
but i'm not really convinced about that as it will take a lit bit of time to present (so not realy a quick presentation ). there are other intresting features i think i should add like "photo match", some useful ruby scripts ( is that what you mean by extensibility Remus ? )
