[Plugin] GhostComp - v1.4a - 31 Oct 18
-
Hello is this working for sketchup 2015?
-
I wish there was a-la multiscatter point display (maybe instead of points which can be accidentally deleted with 'Delete Guides' small tiny lines could make the same task).

Is this plugin still functional? I downloaded it, unzipped it to the specified folder, checked my FredoLib was up to date, and SketchUp complains that there is no FredoLib to support GhostComp. I don't understand why.
Why didn't you get the RBZ from the PluginStore, then install that ?
Unzipping olde things and messing up with the results' installation went long ago - with v7...Ensure you have the latest LibFredo:
http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=LibFredo6
and then GhostComp:

Yeah, thanks - that did the trick. Ghostcomp now fully functional!
-
thank very much. this help me to avoid the situation some imported component is much bigger than my model and make SU become very slow.
-
Within the last month I installed Ghost Comp from the Sketchucation Plugin Store so I believe I have the latest ver.
Great plugin works great but after hiding a GC I noticed it won't change back to regular comp. not sure why. Tried everything I could think of. Any help would be appreciated Thanks
I apologize if this has been addressed already. -
I guess I should further explain what I did. I had a large component of grass that contained nested comps of grass to move and copy at one point I hide the GC while in GC visibility (cube) mode but when i unhide it, it would not return to regular comp.

Haven't tested yet, but... is this up-to-date with SU 2018?

Should work with SU2018.
Make some tests with it before going to large models, and always keep a safe copy somewhere.Fredo

Thanks, will give it a go. As well, will share this in my FB groups to revive it. I had never heard of this before. Sounds like a practical plugin to have.
-
Fredo, may I humbly request an extra option for 2d squares instead of cubes?
-
-
Before giving this a try, I had the delusion of grandeur that this would take a complicated geometry and make an easy, simple representation of the asset, making a component that would have a 2D+blocked or boxy proxy. Actually, it works that way for assets that are already boxy in nature. But, this sure did not like 3D people from Renderpeople... at all. Is there any hope of having the plugin pop a complicated geometry, chew it down to size and poop out a low poly boxy version?

Like CADup or just plain blank 2D squares / rectangles?
simple squares. you could take them to Max, collapse to single mesh, make it non-rendable and scatter objects with special software. But it's healthy for Sketchup too- very often ghost cubes are way too large

Many years I wanted to ask.. On some stage Ghostcomp puts ALL 'real' instances at file's origin point. Is it a bug or a feature?
The problem with those instances is if you'd delete them (at origin point) and run purge plugin there's no way to swap from ghost representation to 'real'. -

EDIT: I am not able to reproduce your problem. Could you elaborate. Thanks

Haha.. Thats exactly the problem! I can't catch the moment when this Shashlik of components
get created @0,0,0
but I can PM the file where it's alreadythere. Eventually I get this in every project.
