Yes, it's definitely a problem when the Outliner is openand the transformation is interactive and operates on components that exist in several instances (like Stretch).
I think this was already signaled and I don't know too much what can be done about it.Fredo
This can be a problem. But not exactly in this situation.
The problem seems to be that we can not have a large and deep hierarchy of objects in outliner.
Try the shared model and see how the model is organized in outliner.

When you get an error message, always report it back. Otherwise it's not likley that the developer can track down what the error is.
-
It would help if you could post the model that is causing you trouble, too. Since both plugins work fine for the vast majority of users, it's likely that there's something wrong with the install or with the model.
If you need help quickly, you need to give enough information to let us help you.

i finally figured out the problem ..my podium plugin was the culprit..for some odd reasons it was not letting the other plugins work...podium was also not working...but when i deleted it..everything is working fyne now...wat a relief!!

This is still one of the greatest and most complex and feature rich plugins. Thanks Fredo very-very much!
(And considering you could easily be selling this for $ 20-30, even more !) -
Hello everyone
I have just registered after purchasing Sketchup Pro 8.
I do have experience with sketchup having played with the free versions in the past but now I am ready to get serious with this software.
I have seen the video clips on Fredoscale and this is definitely something I need in my work but because I am a complete newbie with installing sketchup tools I wonder if some kind person would post up an idiots guide to downloading and installing Fredoscale for the first time.
I really need a blow by blow breakdown on all the steps and if there is any other software I need to make it simpler.
Thank you for your patienceDavid

Hi David and welcome.
First of all, this is the place you need to install your plugins on Mac:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp
Then here is a forum post about how to install more complex plugins (which are generally consist of several files therefore zipped):
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=35746Also note that in order for FredoScale to work, you need an additional plugin library

David,
I see you are using Mac OS. One thing I find useful is to put the (alias of) the Plugins folder into my sidebar. Then I can drag from the downloads folder to the plugins folder any time. Makes the whole process pretty painless. If the files are zipped, I usually unzip it in the downloads folder and take the files I need from there. Note that when you unzip in Mac it creates a folder, when there are multiple files. You want what is in that folder--not that folder itself.
This is a great plugin. Takes some learning. But save before you use, especially on complex objects.

Thanks guys... good information.... i will try this in the morning

I used FredoScale - stretching with orientation of scaling box on this model and caused bugsplat. Is it possible to fix the plugin? It's a group that has inside some components. I applied FredoScale on a copy of that group.
EDIT: if I enter the group, it becomes unique and it can be stretched. My suggestion: FredoScale to make it unique group prior editing. Maybe SU tries to update Group's definition and that is why it ends in bugsplat.

Hi!
Do you know how can I do something like the "scaling by reference" in autocad? The scaling target mode doesn't seem to work in the same way. Thanks!

This is an interesting function which is not supported by FredoScale exactly in the same way. The Scale to Target requires that you scale in the same direction than the target points (even if they can be taken from anywhere in the model).
The idea behind is to perform the scaling (or other) transformation which brings the origin to the target.Maybe I'll add the feature in a next release.

Thanks! This kind of Scaling is realy important for me in architecture modeling(plan scaling, etc...)

Giffeur,
Meanwhile you might want to make use of the tape measure tool for this sort of scaling. In this case you would work inside a group. It would require (in the example of the door) first measuring the opening, then rescale the door using the tape measure tool (from inside door group) to define the opening width. You then have to move the door back into position. Much longer than autocad version but works, and might be quite fast for some uses, once you are used to it. It will scale in all directions though. There are videos showing how to use the tape measure tool this way.
It is a good way to rescale a whole 2d plan using a known dimension.

Hi Fredo, I have been using the FredoScale on my Imac OS 10.5 (Leopard) without any problem.
I change it for a new Imac OS 10.7 (Lion) and FredoScale crashes a lot, I'm not sure whats happening...
Could you help me with this issue!??!?!Anyway, the FredoScale is the best plugin ever...
