[Plugin Library] LibFredo6 - v14.7a - 09 Nov 24
-
sketchup 2014 says it can't find Fredo Library folder after I install it.
-
It must not be installed correctly. How and where did you install it?

I used SU2014 extension warehouse. It allocates the folder under the correct path.. but SU doesn't see it. Why??
the folder is there, under appdata......plugins, with the default extensions, under the name of Fredo6_!LibFredo6 and Fredo6_!LibFredo6.rb
What should be wrong? -
What is your Windows User-name?
Please post the results of this code in the Ruby Console:
$:
It should return the paths to various folders...If your user-name has accents in it, then it is a known issue that can block some Ruby '
File
' operations.
This has greatly improved in v2014 Ruby2, but with accented characters there can still be some failures when using__FILE__
, which itself sets the path to a loading .rb file and which is used to set relative-paths, but can be incorrectly encoded, if accented.
There is a clunky workaround used by some scripts [like the SketchUcation toolset] which sidesteps the issue by forcing the correct encoding in v2014 - but in earlier versions the problem can't be circumvented... -
yep.. that is the case.. my user name has accent : (
I though that might be the issue.. I'll try a work around. -

I must ask! what kind of “work around” can solve this problem…without having to change the user name. Thanks! -
Sorry
Unfortunately there is no effective solution - except getting SketchUp v2014...
What is stopping you using that - in parallel with earlier versions if you must...
But why must you have an accent in your Windows user-name ?
It is well know to cause issues with applications - like SketchUp < v2014 where the Ruby version cannot cope with the 'File' issues...
Unfortunately simply renaming your Windows user-account still leaves residual linked in 'accented-name' folders etc...
There is good guidance on the www on how to make another 'clean' user-name account and then copy over all of your current folders and files to that.
Then once it is all working you can remove the accented-name account ???
e.g. http://www.thewindowsclub.com/transfer-user-profile-in-windows -
Thank you!
Well, the solution seems clear, never had a similar problem before
…till now didn’t even knew this could be an issue! -

Hi Fredo!
Visuhole Looks like an amazing plugin, though I can't find where to download the latest Libfredo from. The download button doesn't appear for me on: http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=LibFredo6
Nor on the sketchucaiton plugin store from within Sketchup.
Can't wait to try it out! -

Chris,
Thanks for signaling. For whatever reasons, the attachment in the Plugin Store had disappeared. I put it back

I have tried to use the Sketchucation Plugin, download, install, copy paste the latest version but I keep getting errors. Any help on what I may be doing wrong?
-
Fredo, I have upgraded LibFredo6 via Plugin Store auto-install and installed VisuHole. Now when I start up SketchUp I get the following error.
I also tried downloading the RBZ file and installing it with Install Extension. Same result.
"You must install LibFredo6 version 5.2 or higher to run Fredo6_VisuHole"

Could you be more precise on the error you get.
Thanks

Dave,
Strange. I think you need to check the footprint to see if there is nothing wrong in the Plugins directory. You get this message if the LibFredo6 files cannot be found in the same directory as VisuHole.

I'll look into that Fredo but I don't see why it should get installed in a different directory either via the Pluginstore (which is pointing to ~/User/Library/.../SketchUp 2014/Plugins) or via Install Extension.

Tinanne
You seem to have a version of Fredo6_!LibFredo6.rb which is not correct (as it is not correctly encoded).
Strange, because many users should have this problem too.
