[Obsolete] Component Spray Tool

Hi Didier!
May be it was discussed earlier ..
1.There are 2 bugs: the plug-in limits drop-down list of components (for example 290 in model is reduced to 10 in dialog).
2.drop-down list is not stable: drop-down list of components is visible only if down arrow
is continually pressed.
Thanks for attention. For the some or other reason the grass component I want isn't showing up in the drop-down list for components to spray. I've renamed the component so the name starts with a "#" as well as with a "01" in an attempt to get it to surface to the top of the list, but it still isn't showing up.
Does anybody have any idea how to get components onto the list that isn't showing up?
-
OK, just tried the tool in a blank skippy. If you have a sky dome the spray tool doesn't work as expected - stuff ends up on top of the sky dome.
Didier, is it possible for you to sort this out?
-
Couldnt you just spray the components and then place the sky dome?
-
I've moved the surface on which I want to spray above the sky dome, but it is still not working as expected.
The surface is in a group, the group is active and I am able to select the surface and make changes to it. The spray tool keeps on returning an error about there not being a surface onto which to spray (not so, there is) tried up to 3000 tries.
Still trying to get the component of choice onto the list to pick from (which component to spray).
I'm working through the manual again to see if there is anything I missed.

Oh oh,
It seems that I have missed some particular situations (sky dome).
I have totweak the script, and implement the layer mask feature.
Next release coming...today.
@Juju: you didn't miss anything... me yes. -
Merci le bureau principal. Vous êtes l'homme !
(Thank you master Bur. You are the man!) - thanks to Babelfish translation.

No bother, found the updated script. THANKS!Didier, thanks for the follow-up. Yup, found it shortly after posting the comment, thus I edited it as above.
I have not tried it again, will do so later on and report back (obviously) if I experience any difficulties.

That'll be € 20, mate. A copywriter needs to eat too.
As do the nice folks who write all them cool Ruby scripts. I don't have a problem with people selling their scripts through Smustard. I mean, most of them are pretty cheap - and they can sure add a lot to SU's functionality.
Look at this way: if a lot of these cool, non-free scripts were incorporated in SU, SU's price would go up. At least now you can choose whether you want to spend more or not.
-
Oh, I don't have a problem with commercial scripts either and Smustard is a good place to buy them.
From time to time though, a plugin stands out from the rest and feels like it could be part of Sketchup itself.I can imagine that a native Sketchup plugin written in C++ (or whatever the code language they use) can be streamlined more than a ruby, which works 'on top' of sketchup.
(difference in speed and performance?) -
Good point. The first one, I mean. Dunno 'bout the second one. Mee stoopeed.
-
Agreed.
This is a plugin that deserves its place in an official Sketchup built.
Sometimes I like my French Fries with ketchup and not mustard, if you get what I mean. -
I'm trying to use this fine plugin to spray some grass clipmaps around. However, I keep getting this message (paraphrasing): 36589 4578 9821 thingies will be created. In short: the numbers are off the chart. Seems to be a file-specific thing. Could this be scale related?
