@unknownuser said: I actually don't keep a single project on one LO file. I create LO files based upon the drawing type - Site plans, Floor plans, Elevations etc. This really helps speed things up and should disaster happen with a corrupted file, your entire project is not lost. Then you can simply book the PDFs into a sinlge PDF if you care to. I keep them separate as it is easy to issue individual files as needed. Makes sense for auto numbering too. Keeping plans / elevations / sections in separate files means numbering prefixes work easily.

I don't quite understand what you are referring to but I think the slash wouldn't be allowed in a filename if that's what you were trying to do. @windmill10 said: Thank you for the support, it is wonderful to know there are people out there to help! Happy to help but I'm not sure I did anything useful.

Make sure you have the symbols in the upper left area of the page. The scrapbook may have a smaller sheet size than the one you are drawing in and you can't see the object you've pasted. Not right, but that seems to be how it is for now. (To do this you must press the "Edit" button for the scrapbook of course.)

FWIW, I only export paper space for LO. For a model space file I export out of SU.

Without the files, my guess is that the scene is saved with an active section cut, but the style does not allow display of section cuts. You place the scene in LayOut and it's OK. You change the style in LayOut to one that is set to allow display of section cuts. Now you see the cut. That's the only way I can duplicate what I think you are saying. All styles are edited within SketchUp, even the ones you select in LayOut (they're the same). and I agree it's can of worms, ball of wax, whatever.

This feature is already available. Try: windows-entity info edit: stupid me - your question was about layout - not SketchUp. Thankfully already answered by somebody else.

If you reaaally want to change the dimension style, you could do it in SketchUp: create a dynamic component with your custom endpoint and a dimension line without endpoints scale the dynamic component in 1 direction - the value of the dimension will update accordingly copy and repeat If your endpoint is just a perpendicular line, scaling won't affect it and it will look ok. If your endpoint is anything else, scaling will affect it and it will look messy. If you are into Ruby, you could make a nice plugin out of it that will rescale the endpoints accordingly to look 'normal' again though. dimComponent.skp

Mikar - this is why I use standardized templates for each drawing type. The scales are preset. You should have your model set to scale obviously and then your dimension tool set to that same scale. Exploding the SU model for me would take up too much time due to the file size.

Hi all, thanks for your input, which made me find out what happened. After dimensioning something in the middle of a floorplan and moving the offset points outside of the plan manually (so that the extension lines wouldn't cut through the plan) LO somehow took the distance between connection point and offset point as default. Then, when dimensioning something along the outside of the plan, this new default distance (which was quite long) led to inverting the extension line. I wish one could turn off the extension lines completely and have custom made start and end arrows on the dimension lines, then I wouldn't have to bother with extension lines cutting through the plan and need to shorten them manually. Regards Mikar

Hi, i dont know about LO 2015, but i think its the same procedure, just follow the instruction. if u think your CAD is blank, just change your CAD background colour to white. it will show up, just change all the line to white or by layer. but the only problem is, i dont know how to change the text colour globally... the default color is black. it will be painful to select the text and turn it white one by one. maybe someone could help us out...

A workaround is to explode the dimension, but then of course it is un-editable. Edit: Actually just realized that it is still editable but as separate entities.

Not sure it's an oversight. The dimension tools have been evolving in LO since their first introduction. It might be that we'll see some additional dimension types in LO2016. We can keep our fingers crossed, anyway.
