At a rough guess, I would say that one of the vehicles making all those cool street level panoramas is a large white and yellow van. Pan right as it drives by the Google Campus. Rename zip to kmz, or just burrow in and double-click the kml. 1648 Charleston Rd.zip

I spent some time in Portland a few years ago...but the on the other coast. It was misty overcast, if not raining, 10 or 12 of the six months I was there. It never really felt ominous, though (I guess, 'cause the temperature changed so little from day to day, storm to storm), it just felt oppressive. Kansas weather, on the otherhand, often feels electric with unknowns lurking.

You know, I had to laugh at all the folks who were out protesting and claiming the war in Iraq was a war for oil. Go back to the first gulf war, and they said the same about Kuwait. Shows how ignorant the protesters really are. Go back to the 1970s when gas prices went from less than 30 cents a gallon in many places in the US up to over 50 cents a gallon and remember when the prices leveled off there. Seems there was this pipeline that the oil companies wanted to lay up in Alaska and it was being held up by the government at the behest of the environmentalists. Pocket books got involved and an oil line got put in. G.W. was not in gasoline production, he was involved in domestic drilling and exploration. He never did want cheaper ME oil. ANWAR is what the drilling and exploration people want. More drilling off of the coast in the Gulf and the Atlantic is what they want. How much is there? I truly don't know. The environmentalists say it would be a drop in the bucket, others like the fella on the video say it would make our current imports seem to be a drop in the bucket. Thing is, you can't really believe what any of them tell you. And don't depend on the press to tell you the truth, either. They're not interested in the truth.

I would say that in almost all of Europe the best architecture is commissioned by public institutions, even if the economic constraints in most cases are much more strict than in this one. Of course, it seems to be a small part of a big hospital complex, and even with the expensive bits the cost is peanuts compared to even a simple operating ward, that will have a much shorter life cycle Anssi

pav, I am taking my part 3 in architecture this year, but I have gone through a similar experience myself (I even posted here about earning a living from SU etc). I would probably agree with Alan, and suggest you stick with it for now, but make the most of any opportunities that come your way. Usually people take a year out between parts 1 and 2 (although there were quite a few at my uni who took 2 years out - actually there were alot who just didn't come back). Make the most of this time and get as much experience as you can (both architecture and visualisation if you can), and at the end of it you'll hopefully be in a position to make a more informed decision. I would suggest you speak to your tutors/careers advisor/professional studies advisor/etc as has already been mentioned it is a common experience and these people should be able to give some valuable advice. What about talking to students who are now taking their part 2? they may have gone through the same and have some useful suggestions. If you don't mind I would like to ask what it is that you are not enjoying about architecture and why you don't think it is for you?

I agree with Susan. I think it would have been more than reasonable for the inspector to let you prove your case, and he didn't. Now, what was so pressing for the inspector that he could not let him take 30 seconds tops, and find the ticket? If the bin is full of tickets, does that mean that most people throw their ticket away right before they get off the bus, I'm guessing it does. In that case, it might be hard to find that one ticket and may take a lot more time. But if the inspector stays on the bus for the ride,(don't know if he does) he has a lot of time. Oh well, I suggest you keep that darn ticket next time and you should have no hassles . I wish I had more of the facts about the transportation process, it reminds me of my college law classes and having to state the Facts, Issue, Holding, and the reason for hundreds of cases.
