My experience is a little different, I find that drawings (CAD anyway) produced by architects are worse than ones produced by draftsperson, let me explain before I get linched! Architects are aiming for the design of the building not the drawing of the design, they are often under pressure handling multiple projects and performing multiple aspects (letters to contractors, schedules, planning etc etc etc) as a result layer management, technical accuracy etc. can take a back-seat. Its easier when under pressure to edit a dimensions text than to move the wall(s) to which the dimension is pointing. Why use layers when changing a lines colour has the same VISUAL effect? A 'good' draftsperson's creation is the drawing(s), producing drawing is 'their' skill. They usually get a good clear run at a scheme without the other distractions mentioned above and can therefore concentrate on layer management, neatness, presentation, and most importantly accuracy. I started my career as a draftsman but please don't take the above as a biased comment, its just my experience of working with and for both. I could never have drawn anything had it not been designed first. On more than one occasion (a lot more than one actually) I and others have 'defied' an engineers/architects instruction to ensure its RIGHT not just 'looks' right. And on just as many occasions have been balled out by the said engineer/architect only later to be proved right (invariably on-site). The only good thing about being linched by a bunch of architects is that it will take then 3 years to finalize the design for the gallows

Here's a good lead - http://www.vinebranches.com. I talked to him this evening and asked him if he was the best in the country. He said I couldn't afford the best in the country. Todd

For, no matter how cunning and intelligent he was, Herr Hagan knew he was no match for the uber-mastermind of that wearer of many hats known as Daniel. He couldn't take any chances.

I regularly run mozbackup and advice everyone to do so. Firefox once scrambled my bookmarks, lost them on another occasion and lost my stored passwords one day as well.

Thanks, Bruce. I'll send you a PM after work today. We actually do get snow like that where I live as well, although not with particular regularity...less than two feet is more typical for a storm. Last time we received quite as much snow as you picture they had to call out the Guard to clear trees and downed utility poles from the roads!

Naw, I really doubt it's a mouse problem because I can see that left Picture Tasks area jumping around. Wonder if it's caused by some CPU spikes I've been having from time to time .. Haven't thought about that, next time it happens I'll check the CPU because the problem only happens occasionally. Hasn't anyone else had this same problem? Don't tell me I'm the only one, again.

thanks for the words of wisdom everyone... i am partial about the shots babies get these days, and I am torn whether or not I think they are worth it... anyway, things are much better, my wife feels much better and right now we can deal with a pitiful child of ours... the poor kiddo is just a mess since this shot, the worst thing is her sleep schedule, it's totally gotten messed up... oh well. i took her to the firehouse tonight to see the Fire Engines, she was mystified by their size, but overall I think she just had fun walking around with dad i took some cellphone pictures, but none of them turned out good. oh well.

@milo1 said: CADken, Try this site for a client viewer - http://www.chiefarchitect.com/resources/viewerrequest.php That's a Chief Architect floor plan file format. I'm not sure you can export anything from the client viewer, however - you might just have to export a screen shot. Milo thanks, I'll give this a shot first! @solo said: I have CA if you need a conversion let me know. can this be converted to a *DWG file or even PDF is fine.... let me know. Thanks everyone!

@unknownuser said: most of the time programs don't follow the guidelines for windows programming and on update of OS they fell apart. Tavi,I can see your point but what I cant understand is why, for example, quite recent releases of AutoCad become useless on Vista....surely it would be possible to write in some backward compatibiliy for what is a signifigant application.

@gaieus said: Spence, be careful with gif images though - they can only handle 256 colours so your (most probably nice) render might get screwed up big time! It's quite a big "downgrade" from a jpg quality to gif quality. This is true. Some graphics apps have a setting that allows you to "dither" the gif image, which basically smooths the image. I'm not familiar with ImageReady (know of it, used it once) but I believe it should be able to "dither" the final gif.
