Sorry, missed this response, stuff happening and loudly. I will not be sending any scene's for a while as onepillockdrive is taking me up the wall. On my tenth circuit of wall, ceiling, wall, floor....... microsnot wanting me to reinstall the pillock drive to "Experience the full benefit of a properly functioning pc experience, it is only between £20 and £50 per month to home all my files on their 'super safe' servers". Tahnk you Lee & emerald15. Jeff, I've looked at both those buildings many times, infact TIG suggested Cragside a long time ago. I really don't think I could model either from Photographs alone, but I'd jump at the chance if I could find an elevation drawing. regards John

What do you think the effect of moving the foreground branches down until a few leaves just break the upper outline of the building?

@cheffey said: There are some very helpful comments here. Still this is an absolutely beautiful project. Thank you for sharing this work, this is exactly the type of design work I want to do. Brilliant work Edson. thanks, cheffey. you are very kind. I am really glad my work was liked by some of you in spite of obvious cultural differences.

Hello sepo, thanks for your comments. I don't intend to do interiors of these. The roof is quite a size to texture with good results, a little more PS needed maybe. Hello kurt, I hope the two images below help explain the process I used. regards John [image: dRjh_Vodin-SUtexturedimage.jpg] [image: zyQq_Vodin-rawV-rayoutput.jpg]

Hi, Zootsuit: Your question about which image: yes the first image was where I saw what looked like spurious reflection. After clicking on the image and the enlarge function, I applied Control+Scroll to zoom in tighter. Obviously, the general observer would not necessarily look this close. I was just commenting in case it would concern you about that feature. EDIT: Perhaps print out the image for proofing?

Hmmm.... Englishness in his work is for discussion. Although Arts and Crafts was meant to be localised the style is quite international ... Somilar style was evident in Germany as well.

Something similar named Sleepbox that a Russian firm is proposing to use in airports. I think you're onto something, Pete [image: Ep7e_Sleepbox1.jpg]

@rvdkruk said: @lapx said: Very nice Edson! Where did you get that grass? I'm curious as well... considering there was little PS involved. I have used one of the grass textures available in the podium browser (it ships with podium v2.4+).

Yes...it was beautiful. It is interesting how in less than 50 miles distance local architectural language changes completely. For instance in Ambleside you have slate walls and almost alpine look and in Kendal you have lime stone and shallower roof pitch like I am in Buckinghamshire. Anyway Voyesy did number of houses in brick as well.

Hello everyone. This is my first post here on the forum. I saw this challenge and decided to give it a shot. I think it's a really good challenge that seems simple but in reality can be a bit difficult to accomplish. I think I came up with a really good way to do it that is simple and quick. Hope you all like it. After a few attempts, I realized that the curve around the ball has a certain symmetry to it and can be divided into 8 equal parts. My process is based on that idea. Here we go! First I made a sphere, and erased all but 1/8 of it. I made that section into a component. I then copied and flipped that component to reassemble the sphere. Next, I rotated 1/2 of the sphere 90 degrees. [image: 9yzR_TennisBallBuild1.jpg] I then opened one of the components and drew the curved line freehand on the surface. I began at the point marked with the red dot. This point is the center point of this arc. [image: HdW9_TennisBallBuild2.jpg] After tweaking the line by eye to make sure it flowed smoothly around the ball, I offset the line twice on each side. I attempted to use the "offset on surface" plugin, but it produced unfavorable results, so again I did this freehand. [image: XFyn_TennisBallBuild3.jpg] At this point, I exploded all of the components and smoothed the lines where they connected. [image: r4Ye_TennisBallBuild4.jpg] After scaling the recessed white line a bit to add some dimension, I continued to add materials and soften all remaining edges. [image: IQ6M_TennisBallBuild8.jpg]
