Thanks Mate, Your Blog and Cadtutor Posts had inspired me to take another look at SU. After Downloading Fredo's Plugins last night, i am excited about using SU to its full potential. I will source a render program and look into buying the pro version of SU later in the year. 3d in Autocad is hard work after using SU.

Thanks, Scott. I know this can improve a lot and I thank you for your suggestions. I made these new videos slow because my client got headaches from my older, faster videos made 5 years ago in Artlantis 4.5, but it seems I exaggerated. Most of the furniture was brought over from the original 5-year old ArchiCAD models. I've been trying to replace most of it with better stuff from the 3D warehouse, but time is limited. Same excuse for the rest. Still, there's a couple weeks left until these videos will be shown to the general public, so I might have time to improve them if no other project fills my plate. jsteacy, I prefer to use the "image sequence" export function from LightUp. I then used VideoMach 4 and the XviD codec to convert this .tga sequence to a video small enough to upload to YouTube (around 300 MB, quantizer 2.00).

I thought this would make a cool Wicker chair. Done in Max/Vray. Quadrified the SU mesh with a plugin called Wrapit for Max and then converted the quad edges to a renderable shape (spline). Quick three light studio setup. [image: eyop_Oli_Chairs_Wicker.jpg]

Regarding Octane, readers should take note that it is graphics-processor dependent (nVidia CUDA.) I found out, on the nVidia forum, that my Quadro FX 1500M is NOT a CUDA-compatible graphics card. DARN! The newest Dell Precision laptops contain CUDA-compatible nVidia processors, and that's where the price differences play in. The top-of-the-line contains 320 CUDA processors! No wonder it's so fast. More info on the Quadro FX Mobile processors: nVidia Quadro FX Mobile Products -Taff

Hi all, Today the exhibition opened. I made some simple clay renders (only spherical backgrounds and a very subtle overlay) for two buildings/blocks. After this I will retire the project until Autumn/Fall when it is travelling to Berlin. I may export some further ones then. Here are some reduced pieces. Note that there is no environment, no nothing - they (for some reason) deliberately wanted them so "pure". Another note; when I do such a simple mass building, I generally put something dark behinfd the window so that you cannot see though the building (I did this with some above, rendered buildings. Here this is missing but partly deliberately as from some viewpoints it seemed to add some interesting effects (but then I may have been mistaken) Series #1 [image: 6SAZ_Sarokhaz-1.jpg] [image: y0jM_Sarokhaz-2.jpg] [image: 8Dr0_sarokhaz-3.jpg] [image: izmj_sarokhaz-4.jpg] Series #2 [image: 6JTW_Kikelet-1.jpg] [image: NVrP_Kikelet-2.jpg] [image: xLfB_Kikelet-3.jpg] [image: cyqP_Kikelet-4.jpg] One more thing (to those architectural visualization minded): I tried to takle care of the two-point perspective like verticals this time (although it is not true two pint perspective everywhere). And of course, thanks for the previous tips and critiques.

I added a short intro movie a few days ago. I had someone give the site a whole new design. It's looking good! This is the finished package. I have ideas for more movies but it is time now to promote it. - Joel

You have to forgive me, I did not mean to sound too critical. Everyone has their own style, I tend to overstate things Would love to see a floor plan of this project.

Great start, but I agree with Marcus (aka d12dozr) in the points mentioned... In particulat the very strong bump on the floor... You'll soon learn that it actually doesn't take much to make really great looking and photo realistic renders... Details in your model and correct material set-up is - in my personal experience - the most important part... The background (outside the window) looks weird and another high resolution hdri- or IBL image can change A LOT in the final render... I've taken the liberty to make a quick tone-mapping and white balance adjustment using Adobe Lightroom - hope you don't mind... [image: QEgs_test-su-2.jpg]

Hi Scott, You're absolutely right. I guess it's like having a Ferrari and only testing it in first gear. With that in mind I've gone away and played a bit more with various scenes and have come up with the attached. I think these are a lot better representation of the quality of the render engine. I'd be the first to point out that I'm not the best at this in the world but I think it shows what an average user can create quickly and easily. Thanks for your reply. Hi Guys, I know this is an old post but just came across it and thought I'd have a crack at it. Arion render, 45 mins with about 10 mins setup. Feedback is always appreciated. Regards, Puck [image: PSHd_Caronairfield.jpg]

All, thanks for the kind words. I hope to post some workflow / process stuff on how I tweak textures, light and render my different passes and combine them for animations. Stay tuned.
