i absolutely love the render, the only thing that bugs me is the texturing on the couch, could use a little revamp, other than that, simply gorgeous!

RE: Animated gif war...
its not too hard in photoshop/imageready either, you just make each 'frame' on a different layer, and then put them in order, then bring them into imageready, and you can set them to a timeline

RE: Local Brews
I've often wondered from you guys in the UK, what beers do you drink at room temperature? over here in N. America, cold beer is basically the selling point of the larger companies in the industry (look at any Coors ad) I though, tend to like a few of the darker ales at warmer temperatures than your average joe... but I know I'm probably drinking the wrong ones warm. so which beers would you guys suggest i drink warm?

RE: Local Brews
I'm not too sure, but I think you can get it in some areas of the States, its called Big Rock Brewery, you have to try Grasshopper, its one of the best brews around.

Another favourite of mine is not Canadian at all, but English (some of the best beers come from there!) is called Newcastle, it's so delicious I couldn't begin to describe it!
And if you are looking for a microbrewery in Calgary, I could suggest the Amsterdam Rhino, or the Wildwood, neither of which sells their beer outside their bar (much to my dismay!)
The last one I will suggest is from BC and it is called Shaftebury, try their summer ale, absolutely gorgeous!

RE: Re:The true north, stoned and free!
Hey guys, another Canadian thread coming down the pipe...figuratively and literally.
Canada is apparently the number 4 user of marijuana in the world, and the number 1 in the developed world. With 16.8% of the population having tried it in the last year. I was really surprised that we even ousted the Netherlands, where I've heard small amounts are legal.
What are you're guys' thoughts on pot use? I personally see no problem with it, when taken in moderation, the same as alcohol or tobacco.
Let me know!

RE: Re:The true north, stoned and free!
Humm, maybe it's the proximity to BC, but I know probably more people here who do smoke, on occasion or regularly, than those that don't at all...
or maybe all of Canada is getting stoned from the huge waft of smoke coming from BC

Re:The true north, stoned and free!
There was a huge tunnel that was found from BC to Washington, where tonnes of pot was smuggled into the US, that might have something to do with it! lol
I think one of the main problems that I see with it being illegal, is that dealers and growers are ruining new houses by buying them, growing a lot of pot, and infecting the house with a boatload of toxic mold from the humidity.

RE: Form Fonts questions
That is the case,
it's a subscription service, and it clearly says in the EULA that once you're subscription is ended, then you must cease using any FF models, and destroy any that may be sitting on your HDD.
having said that, there is still a huge benefit to being a FF member, its packed with really nice models, and they require barely any clean up (wish they would get rid of the FormFonts layer that everything is on though...)

RE: Penny wise, Pound foolish
Thats insane! ahaha, I guess those low-profile tires, and after-market rims aren't worth the cost then?! lol
I've overloaded trucks before and boy do they get tricky to drive, and i hope you like the smell of burning breaks!
PS
Thats the near identical car that I drive (90's Jetta I believe) and it has enough trouble with 4 passengers, let alone that weight!

RE: Board Games
I love star wars, and had to have classic trilogy monopoly. but I kept it strictly as a collectors item, it just doesn't feel the same without all the original names... and of course the car, which is the coolest piece you can be...
funny story on monopoly though, my family takes it pretty seriously, every new addition to the family (boyfriends/girlfriends etc) has to play with us at least once. One time, my cousin brought a girl over, and we all sat down to play, but she wasn't of the competitive sort... long story short, she couldn't take the heat, and left the table crying!
now that is taking a game too far lol!

RE: Board Games
Its all about the monopoly and scrabble, classics and good ones for me!
EDIT
It has to be classic monopoly too, none of this special edition bull!

RE: Could this be the answer to our Energy Needs ?
I've got a solution for separating salt water!
separate the two gases, use the hydrogen in hydrogen fuel cell cars, compress the oxygen into liquid oxygen for various uses (rocket fuel for instance) and collect the salt to sell as sea salt!
I think we should band together and start up this business guys! lol

RE: Could this be the answer to our Energy Needs ?
it's been a while since I've been in physics class, but it seems to me that this was discovered somewhere around the 30's or 40's. EMR (Electro-Magnetic-Radiation) is a means of inducing a current using magnets... I'm fairly certain that it costs much more energy in the creation of such a device than the output is worth. But this isn't to say that i'm a master on the subject, I'm fairly sure that I'm wrong, but nonetheless, a less than educated guess is all i can offer!
I for one am all for environmentally sound energy. The biggest dream I would like realized is where powerplants are decentralized, by turning entire cities into powerplants, by means of wind, solar, and bio-energy.
It'll be interesting to see what these guys are, if it's just a hoax or if they are a genuine company!

RE: The ultimate cocktail...
sounds like a bit of a doozey! lol I have finally thought of the ultimate cocktail that doesn't get you hammered, and tastes amazing!
Canadian Beer.

RE: The ultimate cocktail...
the most dangerous drink I've found to date.
pour into a shotglass 1 oz Jagermeister
pour into a tumbler or pintglass 1 half can of red bull.drop entire shot of Jager into the red bull and chug it down.
These are too easy to drink and will keep you partying all night. I had a good 13 of these a few days ago and found myself still ready to party at 9 in the morning. (also insanely intoxicated lol)

RE: The ultimate cocktail...
Mine is pretty easy to make just right every time:
1 part Lemon Hart Dark Rum poured over ice;
then add 1 part Lemon Hart Dark Rum on top
then add 1 part Lemon Hart Dark Rum on top
then fill the remainder of the cup with coca-colaits pretty good, but make sure to go easy on the coke, you don't want to cloud the natural rum flavour too much! lol

Saturday's Bike ride
Hey guys,
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1107363
I recently did this ride on my new bike, I popped 2 tires on the way, and had one heck of a time! apparently I burned around 5000 calories doing it, so I think thats pretty good for a weekend trip!
My next trip I want to break 100 Kilometres

RE: US laptop in Europe
if it handles 240 and 120, there is probably a little switch on the adapter for either one, if the wrong one was chosen when she plugged it in, that would explain the flash followed by the shut down.
I hate to say this, but I'm not sure how long she'll be able to turn it on for... if she did accidentally overload the circuit, she will have most likely blown a few capacitors in the computer, which can cause weird shut downs, and erratic behaviour. Lets hope that didn't happen!
Travelling would be a lot easier without all this darn technology getting in the way! lol
Best of luck to her!!
PS;
I'm so jealous, my high school Europe trip was cancelled by our insurance company, I can't wait to get across the pond!

RE: New Fantasy How it's Made Episode!
If you find yourself at home during working hours, they usually throw a good 6 episodes of this on in a row on Discovery Channel.
