How many of you guys are subsribers of http://www.formfonts.com ?

I've been debating whether it is worth the cost of the subscription particularly if you cannot keep using any of the models if you continue to unsubscribe from there program.

I haven't read the agreement recently but as I understood it as of a few years ago you technically 'rented' the models and were not licensed to use them after your lease expired. Does anybody know if this is still the case?

Any thoughts on this issue would be appreciated.

    thanks

        That is the case,

it's a subscription service, and it clearly says in the EULA that once you're subscription is ended, then you must cease using any FF models, and destroy any that may be sitting on your HDD.

having said that, there is still a huge benefit to being a FF member, its packed with really nice models, and they require barely any clean up (wish they would get rid of the FormFonts layer that everything is on though...)

still... what that requires of me in hours of removing from my files... I could send them a bill for thousands in my time... I never read the stuff I should... well all the more reason to build our site with free stuff on it... and cancel formfonts...

The EULA doesn't say anything about removing models from files. If FormFonts material was included in client presentations when you held a valid subscription then those files can remain as-is. It would be quite unreasonable to expect people to reverse engineer their own work...supposing changes were called for months or years later, after your subscription had lapsed?

All that is required is that you stop using FF material in any new work if you terminate your subscription. As Will says, that simply means deleting any downloaded horde of FF material on your HD. If people used the site the way it was intended...as an easily-searchable on-line resource...instead of downloading everything as soon as it appears, they wouldn't even need to do that.

well that sounds much more like what I wanted... I understand not using them afterwards... but removing them from my work? oh no...

now I suppose I have to go read it myself damnit...

In my opinion a sub a FF is more than worth it, my renderings for my architecture work have improved tremendously in detail ever since I started working for FF and got acces to the library.

Even after I quite working for FF I recon that Ill get a sub just because I don't want to lose acces to this library.

Though I was wondering, seeing a lot of subs run around on these forums, what is it that you miss on FF? What kind of models? Name anything from a particular object to a range of models. Seeing I am a 3D artist there I can probably help you and FormFonts if you give me some input on this.

                  Thanks in advance!

I subscribe to Formfonts and I appreciate the Formfont layer as it reminds me what items are theirs.

I use it as Alan suggested, when I need something , I go get it. πŸ˜„

I'm still hoping for more musicians Alan - I desperately need a guitarist πŸ˜‰
                          with long hair maybe πŸ˜„

                          cheers
