Hey guys,
I find nothing harder than doing winter scenes, sooo much photoshop work to get the right look, and I haven't come close (enough) yet. tell me what you think!

very cool render! the one thing that bugs me is how shiny the stone on the ground is, seems a bit polished for the outside, but creates a cool effect!
good going, amazing work!
pretty awesome!
the one thing that struck me though, is how shiny the piano is! not sure if that was intentional or not, but if I were you, I would reduce the specular a bit, for a little more fuzzy of a reflection... just a suggestion though
looks great!
PS welcome to the forum!
Al,
I've been looking at Irender and your other products a little more seriously of late, They are really impressive!
Did you do all the coding yourself? how did the software come about? and where can I read about accurender? (which seems to be what the software is based on?)
Thanks!
I like podiums simplicity, but it lacks a few things that all Photoreal renderers need. things like bump-maps, HDRI lighting, soft lighting, and fuzzy reflections. I can't wait until these features are added, because podium is really onto something (along with RPS, which has a couple of the features listed)
That said, what you have done is amazing, great work!
Love it, looks great!
one question though... will you be able to get away with those horizontal bits on the handrail? I'm no master of building code, but I've heard you can't do that...
I, too am also curious about the exterior treatment!
keep it up and post the updates!
would you suggest more rum? or just cutting back all together... lol
The bad part is, I can't stand any light beers, In fact, I can't think of a single (true) Canadian brewery that sells light beer... we leave that to the Americans (which do sell really well up here, tonnes of bud light, coors light, etc.)
That said, don't tell me that Molson is a Canadian company, those hypocritical backstabbing traitors sold out in the worst way possible, to Coors. ew.
Also with all that said, I could stand to cut the beer back a little... but hey, I'm still young, if I'm not dumb now, when will I have time to be?
I'm actually headed out to fernie this weekend for some killer camping around koocanusa (no idea how to spell it) lake. should be a great time, get in some downhill biking, great BC lakes, some shafteburry beer, good times!
I know this is a typical North American attitude, but I just can't watch soccer (football), not entirely sure why, but I don't find it engaging at all...
I'm also not the biggest hockey fan out there, but I do know that the Flames are better than the Canucks in every way (bahahahaha). Especially because of the Red Mile, and Flames girls (neither of which I'll link to, because they are chalk full of topless women, just look it up)
I was a little surprised at your hairstyle comment, until I noted that you are from BC lol!
Thanks for the tips on the switching it up idea, I think that might be the trick to it, because I'm getting the dreaded biker legs, with little to no upper body lol... and you're right about the fact that you just have to have certain things with other things, like pot and pizza 73, one doesn't come without the other... lol!
is the newcastle brewery nearby? I might have to pop by for a pint!
So heres my deal,
20 years old, 5'9" 155 lbs
during the week I have probably 2 beers with dinner and on weekends, it can get up to around 20 beers/hiballs (sometimes more, often less).
I eat whatever I feel like, pizza, hamburgers, perogies, subs/sandwiches etc.
I excersize around 3 times a week (20-70km on my bike each time depending on how much time I have)
I have started to get a little chubby (big surprise, I know lol) and my question is this, how can I keep my weight down (I'd like to be around 150 lean, or 160 muscled) without a lot of change, coupled with the fact that I cannot cook, at all.
any suggestions? I know I should up the excersize a bit, and I've got a gym membership starting next week, but I need some motivation to go, or I just know I'll never make it...
I can't wait to come to Europe! I have yet to see it!
Calgary, Alberta is famous for a couple things... mostly the stampede http://calgarystampede.com/
we've got a couple inventions here too, ginger beef, and the ceasar drink come to mind first. I guess our last claim to fame is province wide, Alberta is the only province/state in North America that is out of debt (mostly thanks to the tar sands oil lol)
pretty neat stuff, I'm disappointed you can't zoom in on the planets though...
pretty cool looking render, you could produce some really neat things with these 'in action' shots!
theres a bunch of sky ones here:
http://www.evermotion.org/index.php?unf%20...%20=exclusive
and there are a couple good interior ones here:

should be enough to get you started!

Love it, great render,
The only thing that I could suggest to make this any better, would be to add just the tiniest bit of translucency and reflection to the coffee. and maybe an HDRI map, just to get a couple more reflections in that beautiful coffee cup.
not sure if you know how to do it, but if you don't mind me being so bold, I'll tell it here for those that don't know.
In the material editor.
add a specular value to the coffee, maybe like .1 or somewhere in there... and then add a translucency colour that is the same as the coffee colour, but much darker.
you'll then have to turn on pseudo translucency by going settings>advanced>direct light estimators>refraction enhanced> then double click 'pseudotranslucencies' and type 'on' in the box.
as for an HDRI map, there are a ton of free ones out there, you just need to find one that suits and pop it in under the sun and sky settings (make sure you use a spherical map)
great stuff!
Thanks for the comments guys and gals!
They are all taken much into appreciation.
I had one day to do this image, the model was mostly done for me in CAD (just an import and cleanup in SU) I think it may have taken me 6 hours start to finish? (this is mostly Photoshop) also due to the time constraint, that is why there is no detail to the materials on the building. I needed the render in a matter of minutes, so kept the KT work to a minimum.
regarding the trees... I got in trouble for this one. There are actually no trees on site. There is nothing there but concrete and an oil refinery, but I thought I would slip those in and try to get away with that, because I find landscaping much easier on the eyes than dump trucks the size of houses filled with oilsand...
anyways, thank you everyone!
ahem
Bump!
is it really that bad that no one wants to comment?! I want to hear everything good and bad!
Hey guys and gals, check it out, comments and critiques more than welcome! thanks!
EDIT:
Fixed the image, hopefully this works!
