RE: Buying a new computer?
Ok, so now it's my turn to get a new compactor.
I've landed a client that wants high end rendering of large images to 'present' to his high end clients.
What do I need, in terms of specs? I'm a bit of a layman in this regard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: DC Exploration #3 - Scaling and Copying
Here are some Kitchen cabinets that I've been working on. Most proud of the Floor Drawer Unit with it's drawer boxes that scale along with the cabinet on the X axis.
Please note. This is a work in progress.

RE: Most impressive dynamic components
I came across this thread while looking for solutions to some of my issue. i.e 'formulas'
They're not perfect but I'm pretty proud of them, especially the drawer cabinet, with all the drawer boxes. Go ahead. Stretch out the floor cabinets to the construction lines along the walls. The wall cabinets stretch on the Z axis as well as the X axis.
As I said, a work in progress.

RE: Help With Creating A Scaling Dynamic Component
Never mind. I figure it out for myself.
Eric Schimelpfenig eat your heat out.
P.S The doors extend down past the cabinet to cover the 16mm light shield. I's not a mistake.

RE: Help With Creating A Scaling Dynamic Component
Ok. After 48 hours of downloading 25 x DC models, scouring every dark recess of the internet, I'm still not getting it right. Maybe it's just time to accept my intellect level and ask.
I have created this wall Unit from scratch, added all the DC elements to make it scalable on the horizontal, including the second door that appears after extending it more than 600mm.
Now I need to extend it on the z axis but.....I also needs to add shelves of equal spacing once the spacing between the shelves exceed 300mm
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Help! What am I doing wrong?
Oh, don't worry. I figured it out with by locking the position and a little formula =Base Unit!LenX-3.2
I will add the new skp file so others can learn from it.

Great tutorial. Thank you.

Help! What am I doing wrong?
Trying my hand at DC cabinets, and I'm stuck. Help would be greatly appreciated.
When I enter enter a greater LenX value in the Component Attributes, to increase the 'Base Cabinet' from a 300mm to a 600mm, I end up with a few problems. I have spent the last 48 hours looking for solutions.
What am I doing wrong? Please, don't just correct it. Tell me so I can learn.
Thank you, in advance.

RE: Material Edit/usage
Thank you Dave R.
Ye. Had a virus issue after plugging my H/D into someone else's Laptop. Spent days sorting out permissions.
Anyway, thanks again.

RE: Material Edit/usage
Hi Alan
Not sure if this is the correct thread. Please move it if it needs moving.
I have created new (wood) materials and saved then to my (wood) Materials folder in SU8.
But when I go to find them in Windows explorer, I can't find them there.I would like to copy them from the Materials (wood) folder to my backup hard drive.
Any suggestions?Please see images attached.

Designed in SketchUp made in the real world.
Very few are fortunate enough to create something twice. If you've modeled it in SketchUp and physically made it in the real world. Lets see it. Here are mine.
(Some of the photos were taken before completion, but they were all completed, and we start on the 60m2 of Timber Deck on Monday )

RE: Guidelines disappear when I zoom in.
Thanks Wo3Dan.
Unfortunately the design has changed a bit and I've had to resize the beams. So the Axis point is no longer at the end of each group/Beam. Fortunately I found a workaround, but I will keep this in mind for the future. Thanks again.
P.S. I am in the habit of making Groups of everything and not Components. It would have been much easier if the beam was a Component. Instead I had to edit each Group individually. Lesson learned.

Oh and the joints don't currently land on a joist.
Ooo! Thank you. Don't know how I missed that. There goes the profit.
