It is not much related to the topic of the thread, but I like this part very much, as it describes what I have mentioned in other thread. There will be no 'half truths', there will be no excuse. We will see everything as is, not as we imagine it is. Mystic can have a better insight into this future state, but it doesn't have to be full. It will be still partial.
As I have written, and will write again: Love will never do an attempt to brake your will. One can just open a door and let her flow. She will not come uninvited. It just invites You to take part in her flow.

RE: Do humans have a free will?
I thought this topic doesn't have to relate again to religion, but as it has been mentioned already few times, I want to share with you some of my thoughts.

I evaluate myself constantly and try live a life of virtue, and not for a reward of everlasting life in heaven.
This a very common misinterpretation of the Christianity. There is NOTHING a Christian can do get to heaven. It works in an opposite way. I will get to heaven because I believe in love and also 'I evaluate myself constantly and try live a life of virtue' not in order to get there but from pure thankfulness I have discovered a path of love. We are not that different, Pete.

I do not believe Christianity/religion has a copyright on morals, actually based on what I have seen religion is responsible for more hatred and death, not forgetting deceit, paedophilia, martyrdom and greed to be even closely associated with good morals and honest values.
I do not believe Christianity/religion has a copyright on morals, neither. You are right. When I think of all crusades, all fights amongst Italian families to put their member as a pope I see how far can idea of a Kingdom can be warped, lost and used for completely different purposes.

Atheists have nothing to fall back on. We are on our own and it is necessary for us to find a moral life. We have to be objective and rational. Mysticism won't work and we know it. Atheists have something no religious person can enjoy and that is the certainty that our moral decisions are based upon a knowledge founded in reality and not faith in some unprovable, murky mystic awareness. Faith is belief without knowledge.
Mysticism it is a window through you can see what is outside. It doesn't mean that a mystic is someone irrational and non-objective. Such a person has just deeper knowledge of what you don't want or don't care to accept as a truth.
Pure Christianity wouldn't deprive you of knowledge founded in reality. It would just enhance your scope of awareness. It is an invitation to a wedding party organized by someone who has brought all our reality to an existence. Many say - I do not care. I have a work to do. I have to visit my relatives. Let other go. I won't.

There is this wonderful talk by Dan Dennett on Dangerious Memes http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/dan_dennett_on_dangerous_memes.html which applies to all religions and ideologies. Religion is like a virus or parasite.
Chango, thank you for the link. It was really inspiring to listen to this man. Your problem is that you just hear what you want to hear, not what he said.
He was relating to ideas that are being misused or abused. This the reason why they can be dangerous and work like parasites. Listen to it once again. He is not talking about religions in general, but those misinterpretations that are toxic.

RE: Do humans have a free will?
Hi, thanks Plot for bringing in a new interesting thread. I intend to go back to the old one as well.
I am sure we have free will. Without it we couldn't take responsibility for our actions.
If we won't exercise this gift, we will be like an anonymous, colourless mass.As already pointed out, very often we are being pushed to do something, very often our emotions win and we do what in fairness we don't want to.
There are people who doesn't care and do what they were told to without a trace of reflection.
On the other hand, there are people with very well formed minds (souls), being able to exercise their gift.Tomasz

RE: SketchUp RUBY API Wishlist [way of coding wishes, please]
The Sections are hardly accessible from Ruby, only through Selection! You can't read or set it active.

RE: SketchUp RUBY API Wishlist [way of coding wishes, please]
Scott,
I 've got one, almost a Christmas wish : - can Ruby tell me if I should use UVHelper instead of uv_at when I want to get proper UVs for a face, PLEASE!I other words - can Ruby tell me if the face's texture is photo-matched or not?
Please check this thread. Could it be an additional .materialType result .. say 3?Tomasz
-
RE: Middle mouse button.
Thanks Scott for you answer. What we really miss here in the Ruby section is a professional feedback from SU Team regarding bugs and missing Ruby features, for example:
- ray casting bug - ray stops on hidden entities or entities on a hidden layers
- selection bug displaying also a geometry of a definition
- only first attribute restored when saved with SKM material
and few more...
I understand that not all have to be answered. I am just glad to see you here.

That or change the cursor to something different while active.
Good idea Boofredlay - added to the 'TO DO' list.
@alz said:
Could you add a "hold down left mouse" to have it be active? This would prevent accidental flipping when simply moving your mouse around in the scene.
I think your finger will fail with big scenes to work correctly for a longer period
,
but... I could turn it on permanently when a LMB would be pressed longer then.. say 5 sec.@alz said:
Another possibility -- when being used, toggle to a different Style (say Gray = front face, Red = back face).
I prefer let user decide what monochrome style looks like.
Thanks

I think new version will be much different. They could call it SuckIt Up 1.0... beta ??
Now taking seriously. I have an impression that Google is preparing something similar to the 'Chrome' but in 3D world. It takes so long because:
- they are(?) almost rewriting the whole thing
- Google SU Team members were excited at Base Camp - because they are working on an 'open source(?)' new approach to 3D modelling and because they are able involve their own talents and ideas
- they are(?) creating Linux version as well
I wish it was true

RE: [Plugin] Front Face - 1.2
I am testing your method TIG and it is working fine for Pilou's ball, but it is not dealing well with urban model I have.
I have two ideas how to modify your method to suit FrontFace plugin better.1st - limit connected faces only to those with soften edge.
2nd - limit to faces at lower angle then 90 deg. Will try and see.
Pilou if you want to see how it works modify this method in frontface.rb as follows:
def reverseFace(face) face.reverse! face.material, face.back_material = face.back_material, face.material face.orient_faces endTomasz
-
RE: [Plugin] Front Face - 1.2
Pilou,
What TIG has sent is a help for me. The 'orientface' script contains useful method that I can add into my plugin, which will happen soon if everything will go fine.

RE: Love - a path to follow
What is really helping me to get closer to understanding what Love is the fact that in reality we can only pass on love, but we are not a true source of it.
I like very much a scene from first part of the "Matrix". Morpheus asks Neo in his first training:
'Do you think, it is an air you are breathing?'I would ask: 'Do you think it is your love you give to others**?**'
Realizing of this principle leads to easier recognition of Father's voice in our souls.
It is something extraordinary when developed and cherished in a marriage, where two people can discover what does really mean 'to be one body'. -
RE: [Ruby 'Bug'] Ray stops on a hidden object
No it doesn't work. In a model above the face is not hidden. It is on a layer that is turned off.
-
RE: [Ruby 'Bug'] Ray stops on a hidden object
You are right TIG. It is a workaround, but Imagine a high poly tree standing in a front of a house, although it is hidden the rays will have to dig through all leaves. It in not really 'a bug', but I was really surprised when I had a ground plane turned off and I couldn't reverse back faces of a building looking from below. I was sure that my script cannot be that 'smart' to recognise that I am looking at the interior of the building therefore it doesn't reverse back faces. I was shocked

RE: [Req] Texture Corrector.... PLEASE
Hi,
It can be done for a flat object as a leave. I will have to do this exercise for FrontFace ruby, so will try to cook something simultaneously.

RE: [PLEASE HELP] materials
Hi SilverS,
I have done small test with one of small SU textures - glass block. Just mapped it in a standard way, have change its rotation and scale. Exported an image with a right click in a home materials directory. Edited the texture in Gimp, saved and .. I think it is important not to delete existing texture but just directly clicking a texture selection icon. It worked for a small texture, just changed the color.
Is there an issue with bigger, when SU reduces them?Tomasz

a BIG THANKS to you!!!
You welcome. It can be handy for large, urban scale models, modelled by someone who had no clue about rendering application requirements.

The only thing I pray for is a wisdom for Americans,
whatever it means in this case.
A society being fed upon world wrestling entertainment and such definitely needs it a lot.
